Owner description: All wine estates in the Western Cape are beautiful and all have unique terroir. However, we believe that DeMorgenzon is the most extraordinary of them all. Our slopes rise from about 200m to nearly 400m above sea level and our vistas embrace Cape Town, Table Mountain, Cape Point, Cape Hangklip, the Hottentots Holland mountains, Helderberg and Simonsberg with the ocean as a backdrop. While we could call ourselves 'mountain vineyards' we prefer to be known as 'garden vineyards'. In Spring specially chosen wildflowers flourish between our vines. We have no doubt that a biodiverse and ecologically sensitive environment produces infinitely better grapes and the beauty of our gardens is captured in every bottle of our wine. We pipe Baroque music through our vineyards 24x7 and believe that the power of music positively influences the ripening process.

Really good tasting - part learning experience and part indulgence.

A pity (well maybe actually not) the farm ****** next door was so much busier - the people seem to have overlooked a much better tasting.

I was really impressed with how well we were looked after at DMZ. I made mention when enquiring about the wine tasting that it was my partner's birthday, and when we arrived Richard greeted us warmly and wished him a happy birthday, which is something that not all wineries would make the effort to do. After our wine tasting we were treated to a mini-tour of the vineyards and cellar, also simply because we were celebrating a birthday. This made the whole experience feel a lot more intimate and personal than some wineries where you're just another person through the door, and we were really appreciative of this!
The farm is situated very close to Stellenbosch, but is located up on the hillside and feels very secluded and peaceful. The views of the rolling hills and beautiful gardens are lovely, and the wines themselves are very impressive. Between my partner and I we tasted most of their range and there wasn't one wine we tasted which we didn't enjoy.
Tip: Jordan winery is easy walking distance, so if you're going there for lunch then you can visit DMZ for a wine tasting before or after and walk between the two if your taxi drops you at one or the other.

Smaller than the other vineyards we visited, and less commercialised, this was the most pleasant wine tasting visit experience we had. Here, they play music to the vines to improve the wine that results.

Got the feeling that it was all done for the love of it.

The atmosphere was unhurried, not too slick, and the place was not too crowded. The wine was good too. Could have stayed much longer.

Great place to go for wine tasting. Take full tasting which includes 5 white wine and 5 red cost is only ZAR 120. No tasting cost if you buy wine for ZAR 300. Nice outdoor sitting. Nice garden and the vineyard are good. They play music in vineyards which help produce great wine. A must visit.
