As many other reviewers have pointed out this is the “go to” hotel which airlines use when your flight has been cancelled/delayed/connection missed.

From the outside Hotel Presidente looks smart and modern. However once inside you find yourself transported back in time to an age of dark wood furniture, archaic air conditioning, furnishings that are out dated and in many cases that look like they need a good clean (or throwing away) and CRT TVs (that wouldn’t look out of place in a museum).

Now let’s face it. If your flight has been cancelled/delayed your likely to be angry and would rather be at your destination than this hotel. With that in mind there are some good points worth highlighting.

In our experience all of the hotel staff were polite and helpful. Even when we complained that the first room we were offered was a smoking room it wasn’t any trouble to change our room. The staff also carried our bags to/from our taxi to our room and did not expect a tip. Secondly whilst our bathroom was cramped there was plenty of hot running water for the shower (both when we arrived at 9pm and when we were leaving at 4am). There were also complimentary toiletries available. I noted that other reviewers have complained about (the lack of these) both before. Whilst the complimentary meal you are offered will not win the chef a Michelin star (empanadas, ravioli and ice cream) it was edible, hot, served on clean plates, clean table cloths and cutlery. We had no problems with the WiFi which worked throughout the hotel (and provided much entertainment as I read other reviews whilst awaiting my gourmet dinner). Finally location wise you are right in the centre of Buenos Aires, convenient for Jorge Newbury airport (15 - 25 minutes in a taxi), near many restaurants (if you can’t face the complimentary meal), near shops and banks if you have time to kill before you rearranged travel.

I’ve already mentioned some of the not so great points. The bedrooms are dark and dingy due to the (over) use of dark furniture and the carpets have clearly seen a lot of foot fall and need a thorough clean or replacing. The archaic air conditioning is a large noisy unit built into the window sill with four fan speed settings (off, slow, medium, fast) - none of this fancy temperature controlled A/C. The furnishings (curtains, and bed covers) also look like they could do with a wash and personally I hate hotels that put a plastic sheet cover on top of the mattress as I find it makes the bed too hot to sleep in. Saying that the sheets and pillow cases were bright white and clean and it was warm enough to sleep on top of those rather than directly on the top sheet/mattress.

Can’t comment on breakfast or other facilities (or lack thereof) as we were back at the airport by 5am for our rearranged flight.

As I said in the subject heading don’t spend your own money to stay here in central Buenos Aires as there are nicer, modern hotels in a similar price bracket nearby. Finally remember if you are staying here due to the ineptitude of your airline the real people to complain to (for the frankly poor quality accommodation you’ve been given) is the airline itself and not the hotel staff who in my opinion are trying to do a good job in a poorly maintained hotel. Enjoy the ravioli.

This is an old, poorly maintained hotel that caters to large groups and is used by Aerolineas Argentinas when they mess up your flights. We missed a connection through Buenos Aires due to a delayed initial flight, so they put us up at this hotel. Old, dirty, decaying hotel that made us nervous to put clothing on the bedspread or walk on the floor. Shower was marginal, toilet did not flush well, I could go on but you get the idea. Avoid it- we skipped the free meal and went out to a restaurant.

Old and uncomfortable . Needs immediate renovation. Very small room and bathroom. Well located and good breakfast. The wi fi was also deficient. Guests in the corridors at night using wi fi there and making noise

This hotel is old and dirty, like it's been built in the 70s and left to rot! The bathroom is tiny and you will love the cold showers! Even the food sucks, the ravioli tastes like expired canned food! Do not come here, save your money and go somewhere else.
