After a strenuous and physically exhausting hike up Camelback, we all decided on brunch at Hillside Cafe/Spot. The venue is big, open and doable. Not much privacy, great for big groups or having conversations that aren't intimate. It's also located in an outdoor shopping mall ish kind of thing. If it weren't for our native Arizona friends, we probably wouldn't have stopped, but we're glad we did. All their food is FRESH!! And nothing is nuked :-)

Food: Very good. All our dishes came out delicious. Other reviews here have been mixed. Maybe we were just so hungry from our hike, but we really did enjoy the menu items. There were 9 of us, so I can't recall all the dishes but I do recall that quantity and quality was very good.

Staff: Very good. They were crazy busy at the time, but didn't ever leave us hanging. Our waitress was friendly and helpful.

Definitely will be back. And we came with some locals - who love this place, so that speaks volumes in our magazine!

I ordered the Rice bowl which was a deconstructed California roll. It was excellent. A green leafy salad came with it which was crisp and fresh. Nice staff, good service.

Has a great breakfast menu, lots of casual atmosphere! Really enjoyed its "uniqueness"!! You can tell its good by the number of people being served on a Saturday morning!

My wife and I were vacationing in the Phoenix area and hosted a Happy Hour at the Hillside Spot for our friends that live in the area. This was recommended by the couple that we stayed with and it was perfect. We had a group of 12, sat outside and it could not have worked out better. Plenty of drink and appetizer choices along with great service by our server, Nicole. We held this on a Wednesday evening. Outside was cool...so, it wasn't very crowded...but the inside dining area was all but full. So, it's a very popular place

Went to meet some friends for happy hour. Sat on the patio which was okay. We each had a beer and shared some appetizers that were decent. The problem I have with the place was the service was just okay but we had an issue with the bill.
We were brought the wrong change and flagged the waiter down and told him. He comes back and says the change is right because he now changed the bill to make the change fit. It was only $3.00 but not sure what he was thinking.
