This is a little gem

Around Sedona you can either stay in a busy town or in the cool and quiet of the Oak Canyon. Forest Houses Resort is located in the canyon and is a magical place. For a start you have to traverse a shallow ford where the river runs direct over the forest road.

The houses are quaint and rustic and all have log fires at night. In May we didn't really need one for warmth but the majesty of a wood fire in the grate was so attractive.

We slept all night with the tinkle of running water as Oak creek ran just below our cabin - just magical.
Date of stay: May 2016
Room Tip: we had the Bridge Cabin. It was big enough for two and was close to the stream.

we stayed in the "barn House" and had a great time, the biggest issue was the stairs to get to the 2nd floor . the place was very peaceful and very relaxing, you have to drive over a stream to get to the cottages, which was pretty cool and their are trails all over the place, we have been wanting to try the sleep numbers beds which they had. I would stay there again but maybe in different cottage cuz of the winding staircase with a river view. parking looked like an issue for some of the cotteges but since we were the last one, we had plenty of parking

Room tip: make sure you ask about which cottages have stairs if that is an issue, bring hair dryers and shampoo cuz they didn't have any

This was such a wonderful place to spend 2 nights while traveling through Arizona! It was quiet, comfortable, and perfect. Our cabin had everything we needed and the grounds were beautiful! The office had many games and puzzles to do in place of watching T.V. and surfing the web. It was a great break from the everyday craziness of life!

Room tip: We stayed in the Overlook cabin. It had a balcony overlooking the creek below. Beautiful!

Although I'm very familiar with Oak Creek and Sedona, I had not stayed at Forest Houses, but I will definitely do so again! Customer Service and onsite management so accommodating! All of the cabins private and tucked away in the woods with close-in parking.
Rustic, wood paneled cabins with all of the amenities needed for a few nites or a few weeks! One-to-five bedroom units, fireplaces and individual BBQs (fire wood provided). Quiet, creekside balconies and patios with large windows in every room to view the forest, mountains and creek. Quiet property, grassy group picnic area, trails close by. Multiple levels, stairs, gravel pathways and no onsite kids activities.

Room tip: Not a year-round facility. All units private and quiet. Not sure any cabins have wheelchair access.

The Forest Houses Resort was absolutely lovely! The grounds are well kept and there are flowers everywhere. It was very quiet and peaceful. The little trail to the Junipine resort is perfect for a casual hike. The staff was delightful and extremely helpful. No television or cell phone reception to speak of, but that's exactly the sort of adventure we were looking for.

We stayed in the Chalet house and it was wonderful. Ideal for 2 people, and for the money, without a doubt one of the best deals in Arizona. Lots of windows, stone fireplace, patio/porch with seating and a table to enjoy outside meals at. Kitchen was stocked with all the utensils, pots, pans, dishes, etc that you would ever need. We weren't crazy about the sleep number bed, but it wasn't uncomfortable per se, just took a little getting used to. They supply you with free firewood and kindling too, which we were also thrilled about.

Definitely will stay here again the next time we're in Sedona!

Room tip: Check their website for details on all the houses.

Crossing the creek caught me off guard at first, but it was very cool. We thought the View House cottage was great. My first reaction was that it was very clean! Loved the stone slab floors and fireplace. We thought the design of the cottage was unique and original. It reminded us of Frank Lloyd Wright designs. The property was private and well appointed. The nights got very cold, but the heating system quickly made it cozy. I agree with Larry that the sleep number bed took some getting used to, but after two nights they were quite comfortable. We loved staying outside of the town of Sedona, but it was convenient and easy to drive to all the interesting things we did there.

Room tip: the View House its farther in at the property. Some cottages are right on the access road by which cars pass directly.
