It’s with great dissatisfaction that I have to come to this site to write a review a day after returning home from my trip to Sedona. It’s only fair that other travelers be made aware and to possibly help the hotel realize there is work that needs to be done. Nothing is perfect, I get it. But, clearly some guests are not pleased (me included) from the reviews that are listed here. This is shameful. Diamond, I thought had a great reputation and should do all they can to do better.
That being said, I appeared at the hotel for check in at 3:15 ... we had to wait til about 4 to speak with an agent and was told that a room is not ready and to pls wait about 20 more minutes. Was advised that a text would soon follow when the room was ready. About an hour later, The text never came and reappeared back in the hotel lobby. Long story short... the room key cards were provided and my daughter and I arrived at the room location. To my dismay, the room required an actual key which we were not made aware of nor did I have in my possession. Ugh! We were back and worth like a lost chicken wondering if maybe we were at the wrong room.
I stopped an employee who was passing by who seemed eager to help. He said that he would go to the front lobby to
advise them of the oversight and grab the key for us. Finally success! Upon entering... it was a tiny studio efficiency with one double bed which seemed fine except I was traveling with my adult daughter who prefers to no longer sleep with her mom. I called the front desk to request a rollaway bed and was refused because it was considered to be a fire hazard in the tiny room. So, we decided to just deal with it... could be worse.
Upon our second night at 2:00 am exactly... the lights went out completely throughout the entire section of the Morris House... which is considered to be the “Inn at Los Abrigados” a sort of separate area on the same grounds as the hotel. We were abruptly awoken at this time since the extremely loud AC unit that delayed us from being able to fall asleep quietly For the first 2 nights came to a roaring stop. What! Complete and utter darkness in the middle of the night at a hotel that claims to be top notch in service and expertise. I have travelled to and have stayed in many 3-5 star hotels and never experienced this. My daughter and I were petrified. The room was in a hideaway corner of the property away from most. Very scary.
I called the front desk right away and had to ask if security could ride or take a stroll by to make sure that all was well. We were however offered another room which was a much better accommodation. They don’t owe us an explanation
as to what may have caused the outage ...but at the very least should have offered one to ease our minds.
