This is the only thing in Winslow, besides lots and lots of railroad cars! The rooms and bathrooms are beautify done in the southwest style. They even have full size bottles of shampoo etc if you need them. They have an art museum, large gift shop and dining rooms. This is a destination hotel. The place was originally run by the owner who had "Harvey Girl" aprons on the waitresses. They still wear them. Food very good, but after a late lunch we couldn't get a light dinner. The dinner menu looked lovely but too heavy. The only other place in Winslow was a chicken place for a sandwich.

Hotel ratings not working so..Value excellent, nothing else in town, six miles away is largest meteor, that's all for miles. Service excellent. They are trying to rebuild the town that really is but a shell.

Room Tip: Rooms on first floor, still up several steps, No elevators. They will take your luggage Value excellent.

We drive every year from Vermont to Scottsdale and always spend our last night on the road reveling in time that was at the La Posada Hotel. Originally built in 1929, it was once the finest hotel on Route 66. Closed in 1957, it became nothing but an empty shell until it was rescued and restored by two people that had the fortitude, creativity and farsightedness to resurrect an important architectural element that symbolizes the uniqueness vastness of the Southwest. You get to stay in guest rooms full of unique furnishings, explore nooks and crannies full of eclectic art and Southwest charm, wander the extensive grounds and watch trains amble by. Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Turquoise Room is always a culinary delight.

As we drove into Winslow from the west we weren’t sure if we wanted to stay the night in this town. However, as we drove further into town we were pleasantly surprised! The history of this renovated 1930s hotel is very interesting from the design to its famous guests! It is an eclectic hotel with an upscale restaurant, neat gift shop and interesting art work. We thoroughly enjoyed walking throughout the hotel. Please note the walls are thin and you hear everything that is going on in the room next door

If you are a history buff, do not miss this gem of a hotel. Special place with its history documented - a history lover could spend hours and hours exploring all the memorabilia and information spread throughout the hotel. Every where you turn is more information and another fascinating tidbit. Great restaurant with outstanding service too.
