A very beautifully maintained property, with flowers everywhere. Super friendly and helpful staff. A great spa. Good for couples or families as there are separate pools. The adult pool is perfectly situated with wonderful views. The jalapeño pineapple margarita makes it perfect. Sitting on the terrace of our casita in the morning, drinking my coffee with a view of green mountains, listening to birdsong supremely relaxing. We did the Namú waterfall hike follwed by lunch at a Costa Rican family farm- highly recommend. About 8 miles of well kept trails on the property including a suspension bridge over a river- also recommend. If we want to skip the 3.5 hr drive from san josé, the helicopter ride is beautiful and about 40 minutes.
Casita 11 is close to the pool and restaurant, but has a great view and is private and huge. The casitas near the spa will also feel private, but you will need to call a golf cart to get to the pool and meals.
Not trendy, not flashy. Not the type of place to come if you want to show off your big diamonds and Gucci flip-flops. A classy place.

Dear givemechampagne,

Great to see that you had a great time with us. We are in a less visited region of Costa Rica, but a stunning part of the country nevertheless, and the hacienda makes the area worth visiting. As you had mentioned, the trip from San Jose is only 40-mins. by helicopter or airplane. The arrival voyage is an experience in itself where you could see the mountains and the Pacific coast along the way. Once you're here, the location is gorgeous, the facilities world class, activities very interesting, and the people friendly and caring. A true oasis. We hope you have the opportunity to visit us again sooner than later!

Best regards,
JP Alfonso

One of the best and amazing resorts that my wife and I have ever been to in the world. Hacienda AltaGracia surpassed everything we had expected on our family spring break with our kids (12 & 15). We coordinated the logistics of the private plane to and from San Jose on the resorts grass air strip was so beyond easy and a beautiful flight.

The Resort is on an amazing hillside down in Perez Zeledon that over looks the Valley with the most breathtaking views and serenity of its surroundings. The facilities from our own Two Bedroom Casita to the gorgeous infinity pools for both family pool and adult only pool took advantage of the properties location.

We have special needs older daughter and were concerned about her needs on the resort property but the hotel staff and management blew away all our expectations through the sincerity and kindness of everyone. Welcoming us were General Manager JP and Steven who was a very gracious front office staff member. To Ivan and Melvin other Managers through out the property. The day to day workers like Jacquelyn and Monica who served us daily throughout our meals to Golf Cart driver Carla taking us around the resort, to the Concierge Diandra took care of all our adventure trip needs.

The Zip line adventure on the other side of the valley was beyond adrenaline and exciting for my younger daughter and I. Lucas and Jose who were our Zip Line Operator Guides were truly amazing and felt beyond safe with them especially the surprise ending of how they take you off the Zip Line Course. (Keeping it a Secret). My wife tagged along for some photos but she truly loved the cafe at the zip line course that over looks the entire valley. Very authentic local food was delicious and yummy drinks. They had wifi where my wife checked in on work from her laptop.

The Tour for Life on the Farm was probably our overall favorite of the trip. It was visiting a local family farm where you visited all of there animals from new born cows, pigs, chickens, hens, rabbits, turkeys, etc.The best thing was the sugar cane process we learned about from juicing the canes through the old metal hand moving grinder to then making honey to candy all from the same cane juices. Also we learned how to make empanadas which were over the top delicious. The overall surprise was all the booze they served us fresh from the farm of juices and the cane alcohol which was like moonshine. That was great as the parents were able to sit and relax and drink while the kids ran around the farm. The family again was very genuine and nice and inviting us literally into there kitchen to eat and make food with them.

Both my daughters did the horseback riding at the resort with some Cabrilleros. Especially my special needs daughter they could not have been more accommodating and helpful for putting her on the horse and walking around in a coral for an hour. She loved it! While my other daughter was walking on her horse the resort tour guide, Henyfer (mis-spelling her name) worked with my youngest on trotting and cantering. Henyfer was truly amazing with both my daughters not just on the horses but at the Tour of the Farm.

The food at the restaurants were all amazing. The secret is to make sure you go when they serve one night at the Grill which is down my the horses in the coral. Another beautiful amazing all meat :) with other options served in an amazing restaurant seen. I hope they open this restaurant more than just one night a week.

Pool service and food again the best and servicing you at all times. The wine cavern was stocked with amazing wine from all over the world we were able to enjoy at all times of the day. The spa is one of the best spas my wife and i had ever been too also. It is the largest in Central America and the indoor pool and Jacuzzi stunning looking out at the views especially at sunset. The massages were all top notch!

Honestly beyond blowing us on all expectations of the report and amenities what made this resort the top in my mind was the people. They truly are the most sincere and nicest people we have ever had the pleasure of being around. Everyone from all levels at the resort were just amazing. They are what want us to come back to beyond the beautiful resort.

Great job JP to your amazing people and resort your team has created at Hacienda AltaGracia. I will forever be promoting your resort to all our friends but for sure you will be seeing us as a repeat customer!

If you are looking for a wonderful authentic vacation, with lots of wonderful activities and a gorgeous place to rest when you return, then this is your place!! We travelled as a family, and couldn't have been more thrilled with our stay. We took advantage of the many wonderful hiking trails, biking trails, horse riding, farm adventure, and zip lining. We were not disappointed in any way. The staff is extremely courteous and have a true desire to make your stay happy and comfortable. Would highly recommend for a family or couples visit.

Room Tip: The casitas are absolutely beautiful and well maintained.

Amazing Hotel. 5 star resort in my opinion. Possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed at. Thank you for the unforgettable experience for my family! This property has incredible valley views with limitless activities to enjoy for families including complimentary yoga, feeding the horses at the stables (great for the little ones!) and a nice 1 mile hiking trail within the property. JP and his whole staff were extremely nice and everyone spoke good english. The cart service was so convenient as the property is very large. Every room/casita overlooked the valley and provided spectacular sunset views. We will definitely recommend this place for anyone that is staying near the area as you will not be disappointed.
