We wanted to take a drive through some of the Ozarks and read about a wildlife refuge south of Eureka Springs AR. The drive up the mountain was curvy and narrow but beautiful!
Heading down HWY 23 was an easier drive to the refuge. The entire site is located WAY up on another ridge of mountains and hills. There are many many rescued lions, tigers, bears, cougars, and animals I've never seen before! It is sometimes sad to read about why they ended up here, but it is amazing to know there are sites like this who care for these amazing animals. You can see these animals up close, not like some zoos where the animal are "hiding"in their enclosures. There is a charge, but it's affordable and is used entirely for the care of the animals. The staff is made up of volunteers and many of the areas for the animals have been funded by private contributors. This would be a great day trip if you are in the Bella Vista area.

You are correct. It is a beautiful drive from your area to Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. If you prefer roads that are less curvy, take highway 12 east out of Rogers all the way to highway 23 then turn north or left and go three miles. Thanks,

They are so devoted to saving exotic animals! Make sure to stay for feeding time, usually around 5pm.

their hearts are in the right place and you do get to see the lions and tigers up close but it's VERY SUNNY and HOT in with very little shade for animals or people.
