My boyfriend and I just stayed here the other night during our road trip through the southern half of Iceland. We absolutely loved it! Our room was super cool with a vaulted ceiling, little patio, right next to the pool, even a real queen size bed, which we haven’t really seen, just twins pushed together. (Room 8)
The staff was incredibly kind and friendly. We splurged on dinner here and it was so worth it. The room and atmosphere was gorgeous and the food was delicious!
No northern lights but if there were it would have been a great place to view them.
There are even some hiking paths walking distance from the hotel to see a few geothermal vents which we loved as well.
Wish we were staying there longer!

The room was small but felt larger since it opened right onto a terrace with a hot pool, from which we watched the northern lights. As others have described the setting just meters above the river Varma and with snow-capped peaks (in March) in the distance is gorgeous.
The staff was incredibly helpful; since there is no laundromat in town, she offered to do our laundry for us (and did -- we got it back in the morning). In addition, there is a bathrobe and sandals in the room -- perfect for getting to the tub on a chilly evening.

There are many hikes right out the door from the hotel; we spent a day exploring the town and adjacent trails, and another afternoon hiking to the nearby hot springs river (Reykdalur). Recommend the map that the hotel provides.
Recommend having a dinner at the on-site restaurant Varma if you can; the (included) breakfast had an extensive selection, with more traditional Icelandic foods (skyr, smoked salmon), at least 5 different kinds of fresh-baked bread, cereal, and waffles. Not to mention healthy juice drinks and a sweet cake.

Room Tip: some rooms are closer to the pools than others, though all are fairly close. Some have decks as well.

What a place. Sitting in the middle of a thermal valley, Frost and Fire (FF) gives you an authentic Icelandic stay allowing you to feel that you have truly explored this magical island.

We booked one of the rooms with a terrace overlooking the river which was lovely. Bathroom small but adequate. Comfy bed and added extras such as a kettle came in really handy.

The hotel is around 1.5 hours from Reykjavik and is well placed close to the ring road that it allows great day trips.

The day we arrived we still had a few hours of sunlight left so went on the walk to the thermal valley Reykjadalur where a short (1.5 hours) relatively strenuous walk allowed us to bathe in a hot tub like river. Truly remarkable. One of the best experiences ever. Words do not do it justice. It is worth staying at the hotel for this alone.

Breakfast was great and the staff were very helpful.

The next day we set out on a long trip on the ring road, 4 hours east. Knowing that on return I would be able to sit in the hotels natural Jacuzzi and enjoy the sauna made the trip just that little bit more exciting.

The hotel restaurant was average.
Fantastic hotel

This is a fantastic hotel to view the northern lights from your deck. We stayed here two night specifically for that and we were graced with a beautiful display. We had three people in our room which was a little tight, but it worked for our short stay. The wind blows like crazy through this canyon, so be prepared for the weather. Even in the hot tubs our heads were freezing and we needed hats.
