It's a bit off the beaten track but if you'r travelling in East Cork & looking for a seriously good place to eat, it's well worth going out to Ballycotton & Pier26! Worth going out there even just for the seafood chowder which, without sounding to sensationalist(!), is absolutely amazing & the best I've ever had by a long way! - & I cycled the Wild Atlantic Way over three weeks in 2016 & had seafood chowder in many different coastal spots along the way. Couldn't decide between the Chowder & the Scallops for starters but made the right choice & had both! Wow those scallops! Complimented by a spinach purée & crispy capers, this was a real treat A beautifully done wild mushroom risotto was the main..These fellas seriously know what they'r doing! I'm obviously not a food critic haha! but go check out Pier26

Lovely start to new year with family today
Such a relaxed & peaceful setting

Chowder & muscles for starters were excellent. Plenty of fish in tomato based chowder
We had 3 grilled hakes. So fresh & flaky. Served with cabbage & leaks. Lovely topping on fish, chorizo in a tomato base
My daughter had sausages & home made chips
We shared home made apple crumble, v decent portion & truly home made
Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff
Will definitely return

We wondered over to this nice little restaurant after Sean McGrath's recommendation. We live in Charleston SC and have enjoyed plenty of seafood, but this seafood chowder was off the hook! I also enjoyed the hake - but that chowder was the best!
