The Convent of Belen was built by Gonzalo Yañez and its façade is quite simple. The Latin Cross was used as the floor plan for the church. There is a very high cupola over the main nave. What differentiates this church from others is the very elaborate Baroque plaster decoration that is outlined in blue. There is plenty of art inside, such as the sculptures of the Christ Fallen on the Mountain and the Virgen de los Dolores, San Miguel Arcangel, Santa Clara, San Juan de la Cruz, and San Bruno. Fray Domingo has an impressive painting of the Adoration of the Shepherds.
