We have just returned from a week staying on the farm with our 19 month old daughter. The cottage was immaculate, and well equipped with everything you need, and more! Very child friendly, the owners even provided a box of toys (which were clean and in perfect condition). There were all the outdoor toys you could imagine - ride ons, trikes, toy cars, scooters and more, as well as numerous playhouses (filled with toy cookers, work benches etc), swings, climbing frames, slides etc - everything you can imagine. Our daughter was in her element and loved every minute. As well as the toys, there are all the animals - ducks, chickens, pigs, rabbits, guinea pigs, turkeys, cows, ponies and the list goes on.
The owners are always on hand if you have any questons, and are always happy to help.
There is a heated swimming pool in one of the barns, this looked lovely, but we didn't actually use it.
The farm is in a fantastic location, within easy reach of many of the attractions in Cornwall. And there are lots of lovely walks straight from the farm. The local pub, The Pickwick Inn, is also excellent. A little pricey, but worth a visit. It also has a family room with toys, an outdoor play area and a very good children's menu.
We would definitely recommend this to families with small children.
We have just spent October half term here with our two daughters aged 4 and 7 in Curlew Cottage. Despite the fact that it tipped it down with rain for most of the week we had the most fantastic time. We had planneed to visit some of Cornwall's many attractions whilst there, but to be honest the kids didn't want to leave the farm. Why would they? The day started at around 9am with Melanie getting us involved with the animals, grooming shetland ponies, petting guinea pigs and rabbits, helping keep the field clean and hearing amusing stories of runaway cows! Then there were 2 big outdoor play areas and an indoor one to explore, plus a barn full of ride on toys, plus a heated indoor swimming pool. And, with hundreds of toys, both in the lovely and very well equipped cottage and in shared areas, they were spoilt for choice. There's also a very large video library with all the Disney classics, plus many old favorites for grown ups. Padstow is just over 2 miles away - a very nice walk, which takes in the Camel Trail, a beautiful coastal cycling/walking path. Our youngest finally mastered her pedalling technique there. Padstow itself is a lovely town and great fun can be had crabbing in the harbour and eating Rick Stein's fish & chips outdoors in the sea air. Yes, we will definitely be heading back to Trevorrick for a return visit as we had the most relaxing lovely time and met some lovely people there with kids of similar ages. I will be highly recommending it to all my friends. Congratulations Melanie & Mike - a job very well done - long may it continue!
Very much enjoyed our stay on the farm. Myself and my 12yr old son stayed for 5 days in the B&B part. Our room was very nice and clean, modern bathroom, great breakfast and Melanie our host was very helpfull, chatty and friendly.
The place - A farmhouse surrounded by the pretty cottages (which the other guests said are lovely inside, we were in the farmhouse) There's a pretty apple tree filled garden, a great tidy top field for the kids run around in, with a trampoline and climbing frame. There are free range chickens and ducks roaming around, also pens with chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits, guinea pigs and 2 mini shetland ponies. The children get to groom and help with the animals each morning... Then all this is surrounded by beatiful fields and a creek at the bottom of the farms land, providing very scenic walks, take your wellies though.. And there is a good sized swimmimg pool for cool down.. Apart from the poultry It's not a working farm, but the neighbours have some cows to admire.
Location - Very good, under 15min drive to Padstow, about 10min drive to Wadebridge, 20min to Bodmin. All these towns are on the camel trail cycle route, we did Wadebridge to padstow on hired bikes, about a 12 mile flat round trip, the full trail is 18 mikes one way. Plenty of beaches nearby and many other atractions are all with-in an hours drive or less around the windy roller coaster roads.
Eating out - Nice resteraunts in Padstow, bit pricey though. Our fav was an italian above the chipshop on the harbour front (forgot its name) fare prices and good quick service.. There are many takeaways in Wadebridge. You can get pizza, chinese, indian, kebabs and chip shops all food you can take back to your cottages.. Also a tesco before Wadebridge.
Summary - All very good, Melanie (bit of a character) and Mike are good people and hosts. The farm is lovely for kids and adults alike..
The only observations (not negatives) I would make to Melanie and Mike is a couple of areas could do with a declutter, like the pool/games room, A smoking area and bench would be nice, Im one of the last remaining smokers alive haha! and maybe your'e trying to take on to many/much things.. Thank you for a wonderful time :)
We took our daughter to Trevorrick as a baby, then as a toddler, then last summer (aged 9), and we have just returned from our fourth visit.
As ever, the cottages are immaculate and very well equipped. The location of Trevorrick is wonderful, situated in gorgeous countryside, and children can explore the farm complex and have loads of fun on the outdoor play equipment. We always love seeing what animals are there, and this visit we had the pleasure of seeing lots of newly hatched ducklings, as well as the adult turkeys, hens, geese, rabbits, guinea pigs and the two new Shetland ponies.
The indoor pool is a welcome facility and a nice way to start or end the day.
Melanie and Mike are very genial hosts, and they are very keen to ensure that everything is done to make your holiday as perfect as possible - I reported that a lightbulb in the bathroom had blown and it was replaced very quickly, which is typical of Melanie and Mike's attention to detail.
We had some lovely evening meals at the Ring O'Bells pub, about a mile walk away and we will be back at some point, I have no doubt. Once again Trevorrick proved itself worthy of its high rating.
We have just returned from a week's stay with our two young children (3 and 1) at Trevorrick Farm and will be most definitely returning. The accommodation was spotless and had everything (and more!) that you would ever need when holidaying with young children including three huge boxes of toys when we arrived. Both children had a whale of a time exploring the farm, feeding the animals and making full use of all the outdoor play equipment (of which there is loads) and the swimming pool (which was fab and at a lovely 29 degrees!). Melanie and Mike couldn't have been better hosts and were just so helpful, friendly and welcoming. It's in a lovely tranquil spot and we walked into Padstow a few times (approx 2.5 miles each way across fields with fantastic views across the estuary).
I would definitely recommend Trevorrick Farm to anybody thinking of holidaying with young children in North Cornwall.
