This pub certainly has local pub charm. We visited for a mid week evening meal. The pub was quite busy, so in fairness this could account for the poor service. We were shown to our reserved table, but had to wait about 10 mins before the waitress came to take our order. A good 15 minutes after my wife had finished her starter and her plate had still not been collected. She ended up going to the bar to ask if they would remove it. Finally, a young server removed the plate. I mention that he was young, because when my wife asked him for another alcoholic drink, he stated that he was unable to serve her because he was under age. This resulted in my wife revisiting the bar to order a drink. The mains arrived 30 minutes after the order was placed. The food was well presented, of good portion and reasonably tasty. That said my wife ordered melted Brie wedges, which didn't resemble Brie, but goats cheese. I ordered the mushy peas to accompany my fish and chips and received garden peas.

I live in Poole but with my wife we regularly visit my 92 year old dad in Paignton. His big treat is evening meals at the manor.
It has so been improved over the last two years. Chris and Jon are great hosts and the waitresses and bar staff work hard. The food is good quality and freshly cooked. It is very good value particularly on special Tuesday and Thursday nights. When visitors find it they keep returning and it is worth booking especially as the weekend approaches.
The pub is so close to large tourist areas but retains a village ambiance. Do not miss it if you visit Torbay. Dave and Margaret T.

Room Tip: Book well in advance

Although we have visited the Manor many times when we have holidayed in Devon this was the first time we had stayed, it certainly won't be the last. A very good standard of housekeeping and breakfast, with a tasty vegetarian breakfast available, (the operable word being tasty, in many B&B's vegi breakfast sausages can taste like dried cardboard) so well done Linda and the kitchen team. The whole Staff are very helpful and friendly and It would be difficult to meet a more charming and pleasant man than Chris who along with John are a credit to their establishment, and Linda, you are a star!

Room Tip: Ask Linda about your preferences.

Over the few month's it seems that the standards at The Manor Inn have slipped quite badly. We have recently had a couple of really poor meals there which is a shame as it was really good when it was first taken over two or three years ago and we were happy to take friend's along to and often have done.
It is a really lovely pub in a really beautiful place but there is an awful lot of competition locally so choice is not a problem, however it would be nice if the owner's of The Manor could once again step up to the mark.
The cooking of the food and the service are poor, and have also noticed a deterioration of the the house wines too and at that price you want a decent glass!!

Arrived here with a couple of friends, the waitress seated us quickly, we checked out the menu and ordered olives to pick on while we waited for our meal, there were only a couple of tables occupied, so we expected our food to come out reasonably quick, a few more people came in after us, and ordered their food.
An hour after ordering we asked how long our food would be, the waitress went to check, she came back and said five minutes, meanwhile, people who ordered after us were served their meals, other meals kept coming out and going past our table, eventually another fifteen minutes our food arrived.
The food was lovely and tasty with generous portions, we were offered a sweet but were too full to have one.
This is a lovely pub, with lovely food, unfortunately the kitchen staff don't seem to be organised, therefor it's a long wait for your food.
