We had a voucher for my husband's retirement(a gift from his employer) .
This is a lovely ,olde worlde, cosy hotel.
Check in, quick and simple, we were shown to our room (14) in the courtyard, which had amazing underfloor heating!!!
It was nice to be able to have a soak in the tub as we only have a shower at home.
Fab wines, beautiful food (be prepared to pick at the whole partridge with your fingers)...you get a finger bowl so it's expected of you anyway .
We ate in the bar on the 1st night and the restaurant the 2nd night, same service and menu each time.
We had a wander around a snowy Aysgarth falls , then Richmond town square, then back for more wine/beer/fab food. Our 2nd night was much busier in the bar at there had been a post shoot dinner....it only added to the lovely traditional atmosphere.
The breakfast is fabulous too..a small but perfectly formed light buffet of fruit juice, fruit, cereal, everything else is plated and cooked to order,i would recommend the full English or Haddock (these are what we had).
This is a lovely place.. And I've no doubt we'll be back.
It also snowed while we were here....it only added to the lovely look of this little village
