This is a lovely log cabin away from all the hustle and bustle of city life. Sitting in the hut tub with views of trees, mountains, birds and squirrels was a joy.
The bed was pure heaven with lovely silky sheets. The cabin has everything you need and the proprietors were lovely, welcoming and very helpful.
I will be back one day.
I’ve just spent 10 days at The Oaks. I was there for work (research and writing) but can’t wait to come back on holiday. It’s a beautifully-designed place, both the building and the interior, and the setting is simply magical – grand oak trees, a stream, even a mini-waterfall. At times I felt like Snow White as I sat on the verandah watching squirrels and birds, and sitting there with breakfast looking at the view outside The Oaks and the magnificent Shropshire hills in the distance, would calm anyone’s stresses. If any remain, there is always the hot tub! The interior is another treat as it’s both gorgeous and comfortable, with a super king bed that was difficult to leave and thoughtful touches such as proper headphones by the TV (useful for couples watching different box sets…) and two types of shower in the stylish bathroom. When I come back on holiday, I’m also looking forward to barbecuing with the original Kadai fire bowl in the dining area in the level below the cabin. I have travelled all over the world for work and this has instantly become one of my very favourite places to stay.

We are friends of the proprietors and have become used to being spoilt by them over the years on our numerous weekends with them, so I wasn't at all surprised that our stay in the their beautiful new holiday lodge, The Oaks, was a wonderful experience.
The surroundings are stunning and the view on approaching the lodge, breathtaking. The Oaks is surrounded by mature trees and the landscaping around the lodge has been thought out judiciously. The flaura, combined with the first view of the lodge (elevated above a stream that runs underneath it) create a rather magical atmosphere; this feeling is heightened at night, as the pathway up to the lodge is lit up by rows of little LED's to guide your way.
The property is lovely inside and feels spacious, light and airy. With the tasteful roman blinds lifted, you really do feel as if you are part of the natural environment.
In the evening, blinds down and tucked in for the night, the wall mounted fire gives a cosy log cabin feel to the place, making it feel very homely and relaxing. Being able to play my music through the bluetooth speaker in the lodge, just added to the amibience and this addition was a really nice touch.
The bed is huge and comfy, the bathroom modern, pristine and tasteful (with an excellent waterfall shower) and the kitchen has everything you need from preparing a snack to a three course meal.
There are few better things that sitting in a hot tub, looking out over the countryside with a glass of bubbly in hand. I haven't felt so relaxed in a very long time! Lovely to jump out and then sit on the balcony and relax a bit more.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay in a place with a very tranquil and relaxing ambience, where all the small details have been considered and where we enjoyed a luxurious weekend.
Thanks to our lovely hosts. We may come again!

As Sara's parents we were the first guests to stay at The Oaks. On the first morning I slept until 10 o'clock - something I've not done for 40 years. Anyone seeking to de-stress and relax couldn't stay at a more perfect retreat. Opening the blinds in the morning you could be miles from civilisation with the view of trees, bushes, birds and squirrels greeting you - yet you're only a ten minute stroll from Church Stretton town with olde-world pubs. On the second night we soaked in the jacuzzi for 30 minutes enjoying the evening sun filtering through the trees. Over the last 6 months I've watched the lodge being constructed with great interest - and the end product has exceeded my expectations. Of course you may think we're biased in our review, but if you come and stay and don't agree I'd be very surprised!
