We were at Bagan in oct 2015 and it was raining cats andd dogs. We still enjoyed our visit as much as we could.
We will return on a sunny day.

Over 2000 temples and pagodas in this site all with different state of repair . The site was chosen because the plain has limestone base close to the surface so they had good foundations . Well worth a drive around and go to the viewing mound at sunset for great pictures of the area .

If you love history, had been to Angkor, you should visit Bagan too, please don't compare this with Angkor, because here most temples are in original and not restored, for that matter this is more real to history, most temple inside show it's age, whatever before was lost with time, watch Sunrise or Sunset which everyone does here, we did it twice, love every moment of it.

2000 Buddhist temples in 16 square miles, from the ancient to the modern. It is on a plain, south of Mandalay, but the setting sun can be seen from the raosed platforms made available

Such many wonderful things have been already written about Bagan and its temples so that it is not needed for me to say more but that one should not miss it while in Burma. It is one of the most interesting and beautiful cultural/historic places all over the world. I just want to give you some tips: 1.Length of the visit should be two days (more for those really interested in ancient culture and history) 2. Visit with a guide and driver (they are good, nice, attentive, helpful and flexible – by the way our excellent guide was Moe tel: +959 43115640 assigned by the tour operator with which we have concluded the tour One Stop Travel & Tours) and as such you’ll have a relaxed, informative, diversified and longer visit instead of a shorter and tiring one. 3. Do not visit by yourself with a scooter/e-bike – you’ll end by losing a lot of precious time and being tired and ultimately bored (the area is very big), sweat (it is hot), dirty (everywhere is full of red dust), with little knowledge of what you see and having visited only a fraction of what you might have done otherwise. 4. The cost is not a problem as the prices for accommodation, meals, shopping and guiding and transport by car are more than reasonable and all people are very nice and helpful. Have a nice experience!
