Excellent place to relax and recharge. Very hospitable staff, good food which can get bland at times because they cater to a lot of foreigners but you can order things you need and get it the way you want.

The pool is well maintained. Good access to the beach but stay within the area marked for the resort. They have an open library which is a great place to read. Lots of activities to keep you occupied.

Excellently maintained and thought of place.

After a rather disappointing time at Coconut Lagoon, Kumarakom, we headed off to Marari beach resort also owned by the CGH Earth group expecting to have some good time. We reached in less than an hour from Kumarakom on a hot and humid day. We were pleasantly welcomed by the staff with a flower, thilagam and tender coconut. A lady explained about the property and led us to the pool villa. The villa was tastefully done, secluded thereby offering privacy...yes and a lots of that. The bed was well made up and the room was clean and well maintained. The pool was clean with a depth of 6 ft. Like the Coconut lagoon resort, the bathrooms were open without a ceiling though there was also a smaller closed bathroom within the villa. The main restaurant was few metres away and since there was not much occupants at the time we went we ended up being pampered. There was no buffet due to the lesser crowd I guess and there was enough number of people checking us on the food and our comfort at the restaurant. The food was very good and were made according to our tastes and preferences. You would find the chef checking with you on how you would prefer. The live music at dinner was an instant hit with us. The flute and tabla will lighten you up as you indulge your taste buds with some luscious food. The flautist acceded to our requests for a couple of songs as well. One aspect that struck us was that the staff's courteousness appeared genuine. There was not a single person from the reception to the gardener who would not greet you with a smile as natural as it can be. The team is as good as the captain and it is not for nothing that Mr Subramanian, General Manager, and his team have earned the appreciation from the visitors. Kudos to him and his team Hari, Bindu, Nakul, Anuraj, Sangeetha, Liji to name a few.....all of them and the others ensured our stay was great. On the beachfront, the sea was rough and brackish due to undercurrents. The lifeguard ensured nobody went into the seas. Overall a calm, blissful, private place blended with the rough sea and beach!!!! A place to visit to unwind...perhaps might be good for an offsite workshop too....

Hospitality: 3.4/5

Part of the cgh earth group.
Booked a private villa with pool and wow! What a great place.
It takes about 2 hours to reach from Kochi airport by car.
The weather is usually hot and humid just like any other coastal place. So carry the essentials accordingly.
It is a beach resort but the sea is usually rough there. They have coast guards on watch all through.
The reception was with a traditional tilak and welcome aarti with some fresh tender cocunut water. A few signatures and off we were.. The lady showed us to our villa and we were in paradise!
Villa;
It's a very beautifully and thoughtfully made cottage with elements of the local culture clearly reflective throughout.
The pool was small for a swim but u haven't gone there for a swim have u! A good size for a private pool for a couple. It had 2 lounge chairs and a couple of sunbath recliners. The boundary of the cottage is covered with greens.
The room was all white a bit greeky to say so.. And we loved it.
The bed was comfortable with a lovely set up done for us with the towel swans and some flowers.
The washroom was great too with a quarter area open to the sky and a small tree in the corner.
Beach;
After the lunch and a short break, we headed to the beach. Spent food 2 hours there but the water was rough for a swim. The guards were around to make sure we don't go beyond our knees in the water. This isn't a place for beach fun although since it's a private property, one can really enjoy a peaceful calm walk along the shore. Waters are muddy and along the west coast in India so no surprise there. One can hope for a beautiful sunset provided there are no clouds waiting for you. In our case we had a load full of clouds and it was the onset of monsoons and they were expecting rains in a day or two.
After the dinner at the seafood grill which is very close to the beach, we headed to the beach for a walk and it was so peaceful. Just the stars, moon and the sound of the waves hitting the shores. There is no lighting there but the guards are present as the waters are rough.

Food;
2 options - 1. Buffet 2. Sea food grill
They do not do any room service. So I suggest you get some snacks along with you or you have the minibar. Also the restaurants shut at a set time. So plan you meals accordingly.
The buffet is there for all the meals but the sea grill is only available for the dinner.
Buffet was just about alright and we went there for the lunch. It has a decent spread with a few live counters and some good local cuisine. It costs you probably around 1300/- . The breakfast is complimentary.
For dinner we headed to the seafood grill and wow! We were blown!! They had 2 options... One was to pick their local catch or the other was have a set 4 course menu made from their local catch.
Since the 4 course menu would give us a bigger variety, we went for that. It would cost you around 3800 or so per person.
We had 2 options on that as well and we ordered both.
The wife likes spicy food so she opted for the local spices and I went more with the mild one.
It stated with some great soup (squid and othe other was lobster I think) followed by starters of prawns and the other had fish and squid and the main course was the local fish. The desert was ice cream.
We loved it all. The quantity is great for a big water like me and since the food was so delicious I was happy to help the wife finish her's too! ;)
We had ordered the wine along and would suggest you to just go with the full bottle.
By the time we headed back to the room.. It was all clean and set up again. Check out was around 11 am and we would love to head back there!!

We were a group of 8 family members and took 4 of their basic villas/rooms. These are individual cottage type rooms. The rooms are really spacious and can easily accommodate an extra bed. The bathroom is as per the open design and is lovely.

The best feature of this resort are the vast green open spaces one can walk around.Though vast and full of vegetation, every area is well maintained. There are many thoughtful design elements which you notice over a couple of days.

The service is very courteous and every member of the staff go out of their way to make your stay well taken care off, with a broad smile. Make sure you stay for atleast 2 nights if not more to really enjoy this resort.

The only issues are, which could really be a problem with the bit elderly:

No TV in the rooms, to compensate there are many complimentary activities in the hotel itself to pass your time.

No room service for food or snacks, though they have a reasonably stocked mini-bar. The restaurant is a bit of a walk depending on where your room is. And if it is raining could be an issue for those who don't enjoy that kind of thing.

The immediate vicinity of the beach area is lovely and clean, but if you walk further to the left or right away from the Hotel grounds, the fishing villages have kept the beach dirty.

Room Tip: Take the room #50 it has unobstructed views
