We stayed only one night, room is really small especially semi-double room and you can hear noise from other room easy. No Wifi in room, room and public area look old and tired. Staff is very helpful but English skill is a challenge. if you will bring a car has to pay parking fee at 800 Yen per night.

Things I enjoyed,
- WiFi in rooms worked well
- Rooms were spacious
- Great location close to the city centre for walking out at night (restaurants, entertainment, clubs, Karaoke)
- On a main road (we were driving and navigation was a breeze whichever way we wanted to go)
- Seico mart adjoining lobby
- Plenty of hot water and pressure
- very happy with the price
- one of the washer-dryers was working well and even dried our clothes properly.

Things that were not so good
- only 1 of 3 washer dryers were working properly... clothes washed but not dried
- there was no access to the parking lot through the building so you had to walk out of the lobby and around the building to get to the car park.

Staff are very helpful and pleasant, to deal with our few enquiries. I booked 2 double beds room for my family of 4 and was pleasantly surprised we were given 2 extra beds in a family room. However the room has a shortage of power points for us to charge our phones, tablets etc. Taxi ride between here and Asahikawa station was ¥560 (from hotel) and ¥700 (to hotel), and here to the zoo was ¥2780.

The hotel boasts of free WiFi, but only at lobby, not in room, though they will loan you a LAN cable which is only useful if you are using a laptop with LAN port, or carry a portable router device.

The room itself is very spacious at the given rate and the hotel is within walking distance to the main shopping street. There is also a convenience store right at the door step so you can easily do without a breakfast plan when booking the room. There is also a small play area for the children.

While we have to pay for parking, there's limited parking space available. I'm lucky to get a parking spot whenever I return to the hotel, but not sure what happens after the car park is full. There is no direct link from the hotel to the car park and you'll need to walk along the street around the hotel to get in so it's best to unload the luggages before driving off to park the car.

Inside the hotel, the lobby is presentable but the corridor to the rooms and the rooms themselves feel somewhat dated.

Overall, it isn't the best stay but it does offer rooms which are value for money. If you want to stay here, remember to bring along a WiFi router!

Asahikawa Toyo Hotel is our next stay after our visit of Daisetsuzan National Park. The hotel itself is modern but a bit old. Overall, the experience with this hotel was pleasant.

Location: It is about an hour drive from Daisetsuzan National Park. Asahikawa Ramen Village is about 10 minutes drive from this hotel.

Check-in and -out: Efficient. Both processes were done in about 5 minutes.

Room: Japanese standard where the room and the bathroom are small in size. Cleanliness is acceptable. There is a convenience shop located at the ground floor just next to the hotel. Vending machines also available in different levels of the hotel.

Wifi: No in-room Wifi provided.

Staff: Staff are friendly and efficient. They are with limited proficiency in English. Simple communication in English is not a problem for them.

Parking: Hotel parking is a bit distance from the hotel. You may unload your luggages at the hotel entrance first before heading to park your car there. Otherwise, you are to carry those to the hotel.

The hotel was kind of old but the rooms were clean. The location was pretty good with many restaurants near by. It's a long walking distance from the train station, and we took a taxi because we had lots of luggages. There are two very outstanding points about this place. One is that the breakfast was really good. There were a variety of choices, Japanese and Western. We all enjoyed it very much. The other one is that the airport bus stops right in front of the lobby. Since the bus usually arrives on time, we could just sit in the lobby until the time comes. The most attractive benefit of taking the bus at the hotel door was that it was two or three bus stops ahead of the train station stop, so we could easily find our seats, no need for reaching the train station and no need of waiting in a looooooong line at the station.
