We arrived here really early as we caught a night bus from Bangalore. Arriving at the property at 7:30am it wasnt clear where to go and there was no-one around. All the staff were sleeping on the mats of the floor of the 'restaurant’ which doesn't make a great impression.
Also some guests arrived to sit in the restaurant and openly started smoking a bong at 8:30am - if this is your idea of a holiday/world experience, then this might be ok for you.
We were then pretty much ignored until 9:30am. We were then lead to a room in the guesthouse next door as Sunny was full.
Half of the bungalows at this property had been knocked down and were just rubble like in a war zone and the room was full of spiders and ants. The bathroom floor had months of ingrained grime. When I said that I wanted to stay in the property I had actually booked I was told it was full until 10am as this was check out time so couldn't check in until 11am. This is fine as this was stated as check in time - if anyone out of the about 10 staff that had milled around all morning had just said that we would have been fine and gone and found breakfast somewhere. It's just about communication.
So the actual hut room;
This was cleaner than the original room but still only a ⅗. The bathroom shower head was so clogged with limescale it only produced around 6 sprays of water, no jokes so we ended up taking bucket showers.
There is only hot water from a low down tap so even if the shower worked it would be cold water only,no AC, no toiletries, towels or toilet paper provided, no glasses in the room for drinking water, no TV, no plug in mosquito repellent.
Basically you get a hard foam bed with mosquito net, a fan, some dilapidated furniture and a dirty partition bathroom in a mud hut with a 3inch gap under the door and around the top of the walls (where rodents must run as we found droppings on the shelf under the plug socket).
And if you think this is just being princessy this place was 1500rupees a night with breakfast
(updated: so we paid 150rupees per person a day for breakfast as an add on with booking.com, this can't be honoured as the guesthouse and restaurant are apparently separate - they deducted this from the final bill so the room was 1200rupees a night. This was a saving grace as we were ignored by 4members of staff for 15minutes on the first morning and the restaurant was the dirtiest out of all the options we saw in Hampi).
On check out the guy ignored us and watched the TV behind us and didn't know how much our bill was. Consistent awful customer service from every member of staff.
Having been in India 9weeks at this point I can't say this is ok as we have stayed much better places for cheaper.
The grounds are nicely maintained though so got to give some credit for that.
