We stayed overnight at the Colegiata on our way back to Santander for the ferry. With our 2 teenagers we had a family room at the back of the hotel which was spaceous but very tired. There was no view as the windows were about 10 feet from the floor and had a ladder to allow you to open/close the windows and shutters. The beds squeaked and were not particularly comfortable. The bathroom was also tired, although everything worked.
The public areas of the hotel were OK but in need of some refurbishment. Prices in the bar were reasonable and sitting outside in the hotel garden enjoying a bottle of wine and the view was very nice. The pool seemed a bit neglected. Breakfast was plain but filling.
The saving grace for this hotel is its proximity to Santillana del Mar. You can walk down into the town, enjoy the sights and get a decent meal at one of the many restaurants.
Perhaps if we had had one of the rooms with a view at the front of the hotel we would have had a better experience. But with half of the rooms at the back of the hotel it is pot luck.More
