Menu del dia recommended. Bean soup with pork, fish, dessert, wine, coffee. Giant portions all for less than $15.

This is simple, well cooked food at realistic prices. The key thing is that it is full of Spanish people! Don't order spaghetti though, unless you are a fan of Heinz ! Go for something from the incredible grill !!

This is something to our best experiences when we had to eat at the tourist spots in Spain.

Casa Cossio is matching the competition around for 12 euros on the set menu, but the food quality is one of the best in the price range. Also, very big portions of the soups, hams, the fish (very well grilled and fresh) and ribs (straight from the BBQ in the first floor) make us feel just like staying at a friends' house whose grandma cooks the most homely country cooking for the guest.

Before leaving the area of Church of the Colegiata, recommend to drop by at the Ceramic workshop across the Casa Cossio. We found out one of the most crafted ceramic works, with very affordable prices there (compared with what we found out later in Andalusia)

Whenever we go to Santillana we always end up eating here, the food is really good, and reasonably priced, especially for Santaillana. With a bar and the "parrilla" (wood fired grill) downstairs, and the restaurant upstairs, a lovely old building, right next to the church, always bustling and with people outside, it can get very full in summer. They have a multilingual menu (think helpful not tacky), and have the standard Spanish affair, dishes to share, meats and fish. They are renowned locally for their ribs, it's what we always order (everybody seems to order them) as they are fab! One plate (serving 2 people) is 9 Euros, not a bad deal. My latest find here is the cheesecake too, wow, original and delicious, highly recommended! As I said, a great place, and somewhere we always return to.
