The hotel is located on the edge of the town of Bodega Bay and overlooking the bay itself to the spit and and headland.
It is quite large as a complex and had an impersonal feel when we approached. The staff were excellent however and helped with a few problems such a paying for the Golden Gate toll.
The room was in the lower building on the upper floor overlooking the bay. Everything was well maintained and comfortable with a big bathroom. The soaps etc were good.
We ate in the restaurant and had to book several days in advance to get a table. The food and the wine were excellent. There is a wine and cheese hour before dinner near reception.
Breakfast was also very good.
I would have preferred somewhere smaller but this is a busy area just north of San Francisco.

Room Tip: Overlooking the bay, lower building, upper floor

Lovely location. Nice pool and jacuzzi. love the games offered. The rooms seem a bit outdated; old bath towels with dirty chairs. Lots of scratches on the walls. Per night rate is not cheap, so things should be updated.

Excellent .... Relaxing Utopia.Although, price-wise, it was on the higher end, but maybe because I booked only a few days before; I was able to get one of few rooms available, thus, the market of supply and demand drove up prices (it was booked solid the next day I looked). The area was booked up, too. ...

We chose the Bodega Bay Lodge as our destination for a mother-daughters weekend getaway. We loved just about everything about this beautiful property. Gorgeous views, very relaxing, comfortable large room with the best pillows ever! Delicious food at Drakes although the service was a bit slow; I think they were a little understaffed. A great place for doing nothing but go for long walks or a bike ride or lounging by the pool. Excellent massage too. It's very expensive but felt it was worth the splurge.

Just got back from Bodega Bay for a long weekend get away. The setting is unreal, you really cannot beat it. Our room was very nice with a great view. The biggest area of improvement is the restaurant, Drakes. They do a nice breakfast but dinner was pretty underwhelming. We had two meals there, one was ok and the second was pretty disappointing, and the service was ok.

Otherwise we were very happy with the hotel and and our experience and would recommend to anyone looking to spend a long weekend on the Sanoma coast
