We come to Bodega Bay Lodge at least once a year, every year, for the past several, several years. The tranquility and beautiful view offered at this Lodge is absolutely gorgeous. My favorite things are the warm cozy room with fireplace, cheese and wine offered in the evening before dinner, an easy walk on the beautiful grounds for dinner (on site) and the most spectacular tranquil view from the balcony of our room. We always order the Crab Benedict and Mimosas to start our New Year and morning on the balcony! The staff is always friendly and polite, the food great and the view breathtaking!. You can walk down to Doran Beach from the Lodge for a walk along a great beach!

I reviewed the hotel we were sadly stuck in, for our anniversary celebration. We were so excited, New Years Eve in Bodega Bay. My husband, as a child stayed at the Bodega Bay Lodge when he was little....about 30 years ago. He wanted us to stay there for the two nights of New Years Eve and the next night. We could not get a room there, but down the street was another "resort" that we settled with.

You can read the review of that horrific room and over a week later, we are still recovering from the sickness due to the mold, the entrapment of the entire property's fireplace fumes and will never return or advise anyone to stay there... on to the amazing turn around that saved our trip...and will forever be a part of our memories forever. We will also plan on coming back some day to Bodega Bay Lodge....There is absolutely zero comparison of any hotel in this area to this little slice of heaven....

First of all.... after we left, as quick as we could from the first place....We decided to just go home, forget about the second day and night. We stopped at the Bodega Bay Lodge, hubs wanted to show me a place that held many memories from his childhood.....We parked and walked around the resort.... The buildings were surrounded by beautiful grasses, trees, seating areas basking in the sun and begging me to just go to the lobby and perhaps...maybe, just maybe.... There would be an opening for us to stay the night?

We figured, it is 10 am, we were both upset and there would be no way we would be able to stay here...plus if we did get a room....We couldn't check in for another 6 hours, we had no showers, did not sleep all night....

Before heading back to the car, we walked to the pool area....and oh my goodness, this beautiful zero edge spa, slowly spilled over the edge into the forever views of the beautiful protected bird sanctuary, out unto the blissful beach and the Pacific oceans waves could be heard....

All around the soft flowing grasses lining the walkways of the resort were beautiful native plants and succulents.

I wanted to just stay here in this bliss for just a bit longer...even though we were sitting there on borrowed time... those few moments brought fresh air and hope that next year, we would book earlier and return for our anniversary.

We went into the lobby to just look around since so much had changed since my husband was little. The front desk girls welcomed us in and asked if we needed anything.... I asked if there was ANY chance of a room available for the night...told them about the place we had left and how we just stopped in to take a peek at the resort. As one of the girls started looking into the computer, the other desk clerk was telling us that even if we found a room, if we couldn't check in right away they would give us a beach parking pass, we could have access to the pool/spa area, the beach bikes etc...

About 10 minutes later...There we were...checked into this beautiful room....not only were the grounds absolutely beautiful, the room was full of warmth and welcome!!!

Open the door...step inside and you find that you are literally standing on a memory foam type of surface and soft carpet. The bedding, fluffy white duvet cover and so many pillows...looking outside from the private balcony, was the most beautiful view of all the treasures we had seen as we walked around earlier. There were 2 soft and comfy chairs facing the ocean, a table in the middle. A large flat screen television adorned the wall over the Keurig coffee pot, fully stocked mini bar and the fireplace was set up and ready to go. The bathroom had a ceiling warmer on a timer, a beautiful tiled shower with a sitting stool and there was high end spa products available.

In this case open; there was another bar area that had the ice bucket. Next to the bed was a sleep/sound machine available and a sound system for the smart phone. Open up the spacious closet...inside you would find 2 heavy bathrobes and slippers.

I could hardly wait to just take a shower, and get outside again to enjoy the gorgeous grounds around get into the spa and just sink into nature....

We walked to the beach,.husband took nap, I went down to the pool...where I fell asleep under the warmth of the sunshine.

Woke up and spent a couple hours in the amazing hot tub, there were showers by the pool, with the same unlimited amounts of spa shampoo, conditioner nd body wash.

Soon after, from our balcony...we watched the sun set right in front of our room, right before sunset...Our doorbell rings, it's a delivery of a beautiful bottle of champagne and a special note from the manager wishing us a happy anniversary!

We never. I mean ever.... get room service. It's just not something we have ever spoiled ourselves with....but the award winning restaurant was just...right.....outside the door...reservations only, although the same menu was available as room service. Sooooo... We finally, after 23 years of our marriage, 24 years of being together, since the age of 17...... ate the most delicious meals of our lives, next to the fire in our fire place. Every bite was delectable, I'm not even going to try and lie and tell you that I didn't lick... yes.. lick the plate, how romantic yes?!

So romantic that it deserved repeating....yes.... in bed...We ate breakfast....room service and it was so very yummy!!!!

From the moments we borrowed that morning, to check out the next morning...We said at least 20 times how we could not wait to hopefully come back again some day... these last 24 hours were pure bliss.... and we will never forget the kindness of everyone who works at the resort...Every bite of amazing food, the beautiful sunset and sunrise view, the warm and welcoming touches that you all work so hard to provide to your guests...saved our anniversary memories...We can't thank you enough!

Often times, "hotels" take advantage of the views seen from the room...they over charge and under care for their properties, their guests and those who work together on their team....they hope that this view, the one that they do not purchase but are blessed enough to have around them is used to lure guests who have high hopes, who soon find that it would have been nicer to save a ton of money and sleep in their car..... The Bodega Bay Lodge celebrates and acknowledges the beauty surrounding the lodge.... you all are using the human connection combined with God's gifts to create moments that are truly unforgettable. Thank you for respecting the animals, the trees and flowers that are native to the area.

We hope to see you all again very soon...and to all you wonderful trip advisor readers.... keep in mind that the room we were given was a first floor room, one bed, we were told is was "partial water view"...... although we felt as though we had one of the best rooms in the entire resort!

We stayed for 2 nights as a family of 3 with our 11 month old baby, and our stay could not have been better. Location and grounds of the hotel are absolutely beautiful, and make for a very tranquil, peaceful experience. Every member of staff that we spoke to was extremely helpful and friendly, and made us feel very comfortable, especially with our little one with us. We especially enjoyed the complimentary wine hour, and also food from the restaurant (breakfast and dinner) was excellent.

We will definitely be back!

I felt so relaxed the minute I walked on the property. Our room was super clean, we had a fireplace, there was a wine and cheese event in the evening, we could see the ocean from our patio, it was quiet and the breakfast was delicious. Our stay was worth every penny.
