as usual we went to morton's for my birthday right now they have a $40 special that
includes a first course such as salad, entree which always their fillet for my husband and i with bernaise sauce, a side dish, we had creamed spinach & lyonaise potatoes
and dessert, we always get their great key lime pie which is our all time favorite
the price is great when you think that most prime steak houses charge $40 alone for the steak and you pay extra for the rest remember specials change so always ask

The friendly and involved welcoming at Morton's is something they do very well. From the personalized menu for birthdays to the polite and visible "welcomes" and "how is everything?". At some establishments the "how is everything?" seems rote and really not engaged but I have always felt the sincerity at Mortons. The food is excellent - our guest, a meat lover really enjoyed his steak. The rest of us prefer fish and we were very pleased with our choices of salmon, sea bass and crab cakes. Parking is convenient but located a bit past the front door of the restaurant so I did not see it at first - but it is always a plus.

For a top end, very expensive steakhouse, the steak is a best mediocre. Mortons strikes me as a place resting on it's past reputation, and relying largely on expense account customers. Wine list is extensive and very expensive. I would never go on my own nickel. Much prefer Ruth's Chris

In my review of Mastro's, two of them, Beverly Hills and Palm Desert, I said I don't want to like the restaurant because it is almost stupidly expensive and loud. But, darn it, they do everything right - from the moment I call to make a reservation and even following up after I had dinner, a few days later, to inquire if everything was great. Because of convenience and curiously, we ate at Morton's in Burbank. Okay, making a reservation went well, check. Walking into the restaurant. No check. No one was there to greet us and we had to do a little searching to find someone. Okay, it was an early reservation, 6:15. But there were two other groups entering when we did so it was not so early that no one should be at the front to greet us, excited that we are gracing the restaurant with our wallets. Initial service, no check. They seemed to have had a problem deciding who would serve us. No check. We brought our own wine; a manager came and opened it and he was conversant, friendly and efficient; back to a check. But then service went up and down. Small check. But concentrating on the food: I split a steak and the great news was that Morton's readily and in a kind manner (no guilt), happily cooked it to both our needs, Big check. But when they served it they reversed the order with me getting the more cooked part. Not too bad but we did not realize they changed the service until far into eating it because I have the patience of a gnat and dug in. Side dishes were a mix; the potatoes we had just seemed full of fat rather than really good. Small check at best.

The ending bill for four of us was, with the corkage fee and tax and tip, about $80 a person. I don't know about you but when I spend $80 a person and including that we brought our own wine, I split a steak and we split other dishes, and we ordered no appetizers, I want to be very happy when I leave, like when I leave Mastro's despite the sticker shock there - but Morton's is really only slightly less expensive.

Not my favorite.

Qe went to Morton's while on vacation with our 7yr son. Thatcher was our waiter and he provided excellent service. The menu had options for our son; chicken breast sandwich, hold the onions and the bun. The hubby and i did the 3 course lunch. The onion soup was perfect as was my steak. Hubby did the Ceasar salad and steak. He was smiling the whole time. For dessert i had the chocolate mousse, although the kiddo ate most of it. He said it was delicious. Hubby finished with cheesecake and coffee.
It is alwaya iffy when taking children to this level of dining. The staff did a great job and we had a pleasant meal.
When you go to this location use the valet parking. It is worth every penny.
