We planned a stop here to pick strawberries and were not disappointed!

We enjoyed the petting zoo prior to going to the fields. You can buy bunches of carrots to feed the animals. Then we loaded up with a tray and 3 baskets each (there were 4 in my family and 2 friends with us). Then we browsed the rows and rows in the field picking the ripe berries!

We'd picked strawberries before in Carlsbad. They were HUGE! But not organic and not the sweetest. By comparison, these strawberries varied in size from like large grapes to as small as blueberries; HOWEVER, they were the sweetest strawberries ever!

Because they were so small, it took longer to fill our baskets, but it was a nice day, a nice outing and we enjoyed our time and experience.

Afterwards, we paid and picked up some additional fantastic looking foods from the little store.

They did have a bathroom, which is where we rinsed them off in order to be able to snack on them on our drive down the coast and ultimately to Las Vegas. I would make the singular recommendation that they provide an actual rinsing station of sorts. I'm not germ-aphobic, but it would have been nicer to rinse them in an outdoor sink or even just a hose rather than the bathroom sink where everyone washes their hands. I took the little baskets out and was able to easily rinse each basket adequately; however, it wasn't a busy day and no one was waiting for me to finish to do theirs (nor did I have to stand around and wait for others' to rinse their baskets).

They lasted in the cooler until we got home and I didn't want them to go to waste so immediately cut the greens and froze them into small batches. However, after that I was told by someone I should have left the greens on? Whatever.

We will certainly stop back by if/when in the area again and will make it a point to include on our itinerary. Picking your own strawberries is a fun activity and experience and great for city kids to get a taste of country! And to appreciate where some of their food comes from!
