What a great peaceful place to sit and reflect on the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus taught his disciples here, which is recorded in the 5th chapter of the Gospel of Matthew.
The Church is nice to walk through, but the beauty of this place is the spectacular view of the Sea of Galilee. Ironically the best view is from the bus parking lot!

Very beautiful peaceful place to visit, relax and reflect in the gardens overlooking the Sea of Galilee. Historical place of the Sermon on the Mount. Good to allow plenty of time to take in the history and serene atmosphere

We came to this place towards the end of a week's stay in Israel. This place was more serene and inspiring than any other place we visited. They have managed to keep this area free of the commercialization that you see at just about every other religious site we visited. As a Christian, I believe this is the area in which Christ gave us the eight beatitudes. We approached the church just as a mass was ending but we could hear the congregation singing the closing hymn and it was very moving. There is a small gift shop for those looking for a souvenir of their visit. The grounds here are beautifully landscaped. I only wish we had had more time to spend here.

I am not too sure what i was expecting, but what was there was enlightening. To celebrate Mass looking out at the Sea of Galilee and see the cave Jesus was standing on. The beach down below where Jesus had breakfast with his disciples. The impact of this site is hard to reduce to words. This is a must see.
