We've stayed at the Pine Inn before and had a lovely time. However, this time was greatly disappointing. Though the location is unbeatable, we won't be staying there in the future.

The water bottles in our room appeared to have been merely refilled as they weren't new having been opened. The décor though attractive, is very old, faded and had a musty smell throughout our room. The amenities (or lack thereof) in the bathroom were meager - soap, shampoo and hairdryer - no conditioner, no hand lotion, etc. The couple with whom we traveled also had a disappointing experience as their toilet was stopped up and their heater didn't work. The breakfast buffet is good though it is only included on weekdays. Again, very disappointed as we eagerly looked forward to our stay.

We spent a night in the Pine while driving the Coast Highway. It is a small hotel, old and in need of renovations, although due to its age and construction that may not be possible. It is without air conditioning although it usually doesn't need it since it is very close to the ocean. With the windows opened for ventilation, it was noisy late and early. The complimentary breakfast was very good with a choice of warm and cold dishes. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel's main advantage is the location near the center of Carmel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street for noise purposes.

We loved everything about it, Carmel is fun with lots of different things to do - wonderful restaurantsThe living room should be open to drinks. It would become more of a room to enjoy and less museum

The Inn is in an excellent location, at the base of downtown and a short walk to the ocean. However, the Inn is tired and old; bedding needs to be updated. The lobby is so restricted that no one uses it - it would be so cool if they made it a social hang out - be a big improvement.

We like the Pine Inn for it’s great location and easy parking. Comfortable rooms, perhaps a bit dingy and could use updating, but I think they are going for an antique feel. The beds are comfortable. The rooms could use better shower and bath products, coffee makers in the room and a safe is always a good addition. Overall would stay here again for location. The front desk people are very nice. We come twice a year and can’t find anything that suits us better for our girlfriend getaway.
