Its been almost a year since I went to Moonstar with about 25 relatives. This time in July , I attended a group meeting and it was held in the back corner of this restaurant. They were kind enough to locate about 30 plus people and held a meeting without interfering with other diners.

So I went about to review and check out the food stations for any drop in qualities and quantities of food.

There is still was a wide range of fresh Japanese sushi and seafood salads. Seems like they also added some different sushi and tempura. And, Then there was a noodle station. A chef stil can boil up ramen, seafood noodle, fish ball and cake, and won ton bowls! Next to it was a grill station, a sign detailing the type of steaks: salmon steak, tuna steak, beef rib eye steak, and more for patrons to order. Of cause, there was Indian bread, Filipino garlic breads, etc. available too.

There was a whole variety of condiments, wasabi, hot sauce, soy sauce, pepper sauce, garden, vegetable and seafood salads for all to fill their plates. There was the rest of the food stations and saw a huge displays of black bean clams, lobster legs, sweet and sour ribs, fried noodles, dim sums, buns, huge fried shrimps, numerous bowls of vegetables, and goodies hidden in a corner!

In summary, there's more varieties of Japanese sushies, better dessert cakes, high qualities of tasty food. Services have not changed much, but for the price one cannot beat it in the Bay Area!

The restaurant has an good selection of quality food, but a bit expensive. However with the quality and freshness and selection available from king crabs, soups, Seafood , etc. I was stuffed and happy. It was an excellent choice.

When Moonstar was located in its old location between Market and 8th in San Francisco, it was the best Asian Buffett in the Bay Area. Food was gourmet quality, and they actually served lobster tails. Moonstar moved to its Daly City location over 10 years ago, and although the quality of the food has diminished somewhat (no more lobster tails), it's still better than its competitors. The dim sum section is lacking in variety, but that's the only negative. Now the positives..... they have a section that serves congee made to order (select your combination of fresh ingredients). A pho/noodle station serves up noodle soups made to order. They have a section for salads (Caesar's, cucumber, seaweed, etc), sides (diff types of fried rice, egg rolls and other fried appetizers), main dishes (roast duck, Chinese ribs, all manners of sautéed veggies, surprisingly good Chinese beef stew, clams in black bean sauce, all manners of Chinese chicken, beef, pork, and seafood and shellfish dishes - all are restaurant quality). There's a section that prepares BBQ on skewers. The sushi section serves up surprisingly fresh and many varieties of sushi and sashimi (lots of customers, so they're constantly putting out fresh food). The desert section constitutes 1/4 of the food court, consisting of a chocolate fountain for dipping marshmallows and strawberries, an ice cream section, and varieties of cakes, pies, creme brûlée, cookies, etc. Show proof it's your birthday, and the servers will come over and entertain you with a drum serenade. Cost for dinner is about $30 bucks per person, but worth it IMHO.

I went there with few friends that I haven't seen for a long time . Outback on the corner was packed so this place was the closest .
We went inside and the lady on the entrance was not showing any welcome emotions , basically she did not say a word, just point with her hand something like "follow me "
Tables, chairs , carpet -all old style .
I found the food Ok., but everything was dirty around .
Any way never again.

There are a few in the area, but this one's the best. It costs a little more, but definitely worth it. A big variety of cooked and uncooked food. Lots of parties going on here. Been here quite a few times and never disappointed.
