I called on a Tuesday afternoon hoping to get a guided Classic Tour for Thursday. While they didn't have anytihng scheduled (February is slow season), Andy was very nice about it and told me he'd call a guide to see if they can put something together quickly. He called me back shortly to tell me that they were able to get a guide and we were all set.

The morning was somewhat chilly, but they had a windbreaker for my fiancee. We started off and went through Dry Creek. After our stop at the first winery, Taylor, our guide, laid out a snack of goat cheese, crackers, and grapes. We then went to another winery where we not only did standard wine tasting, but also were able to do some barrell testing. Then, at our last winery, which also had an organic farm on site, they had lunch set up for us after our tasting was over. We ended with a 5-6 mile ride back to the shop.

Overall, it was a top notch tour. The bikes were in great condition, Taylor was an awesome guide (he's very personable and very knowledgeable about both wine and farming), and Andy was great setting everything up. We probably rode about 20 mies in total and we spent 6 hours on the tour. I'll admit that I got a little tired riding back to the bike shop, but I was happy to burn off some calories from our dinner the previous night and the snack and lunch of that day.

2 other key factors that made our day great were the 71 degree weather and the fact that it was offseason. While the Classic Tour is a group tour, it was just us and Taylor. This gave him the opportunity to get to know us and us the opportunity to get to know him. It wasnt simply someone to ride in front of us and tell us where to turn and where to stop. Also, there were very few people at the wineries. This was great because we got to talk to the people working there rather than them just having time to pour and go to the next person.

We had a really wonderful time seeing wine country in a unique way.

My wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding aniversary riding two Trek bikes from Santa Rosa to the Ocean and then back up the Russian River Valley. Wine Country Bikes booked the whole thing, gave us beautiful bikes to ride with excellent maps and dircections and the routes chosen were very quiete and breathtaking. We were lucky enough to be photographed by the local paper and Andy drove out of his way to get us copies of the paper. He also brought us extra snacks, an extra panier, and picked up some great wine we bought along the way. We have travelled on many continents, sailed boats, riden elephants and been chased by lions but our Sonoma experience was our first bike ride and was definately one of the best trips we've ever done.

We found WCB online when we were planning our California vacation, and it was the best choice we made. All of the arrangements were made long-distance without a hitch. From the moment we arrived in Santa Rosa, everything went perfectly - Andy and the crew met us (in the rain) at our hotel with everything we needed. Maps and directions were detailed and very easy to follow, which made each day of riding very enjoyable. We didn't have to worry about anything. Along the way, our accomodations were terrific. We were welcomed by name at each inn or motel, bags in our room, and ideas for dinner or breakfast. We especially enjoyed the Ferngrove Cottages and the atmosphere in Guerneville.

Can't say enough good things about our tour. Andy, John and Joe were awesome! We want to HIGHLY recommend Wine Country Bikes, and we'll definitely plan another tour. Their service made our vacation exceptional.

Last spring my husband and I began organizing a week-long cycling trip for six couples in Sonoma/ Napa which took place in September, 2011. Having done this before in France, we knew how important the "outfitter" would be. We decided to chose Wine Country Bikes, a local touring company, instead of one of the many well-known national ones. Wow, was that a tremendous decision! Andy, John and the rest of the staff provided us with outstanding service from start to finish. In the months prior to the trip, they patiently answered tons of questions in helping our group prepare. Their route maps (we were self-guided) were extremely detailed, and the Trek bikes they fitted us with were top notch. Throughout the week we had riders who needed some extra TLC and they took care of every need. Their reputation was consistently excellent with local innkeepers and restaurant owners. We truly believe that there is no better way to experience Sonoma and Napa than through a Wine Country Bikes' tour.

My wife and I wanted to spend at least one day on bicycles while in the area. Wine Country Bikes provided comfortable and well maintained hybrid bikes, excellent suggestions of routes, maps, and places to visit.
We were routed around the Dry Creek Valley, made stops at the Bella and Raymond Burr wineries for some tasting, and had a great lunch at the Country Store. This is a relaxing and recreational day on a bike taking in some classic California wine country scenery.
Based on other reviews and our experience with John and the staff, these folks put together great multi-day rides, guided or otherwise.
