We really enjoyed our meal here. We ate here on a whim as we were just wanting to try a Mexican restaurant in the Indio area tgat we had not been to before.
Of the dozens of Mexican spots we have eaten at in the Coachella Valley, i would say that this one is in the top five.

We have eaten here many times now and each time have been absolutely delighted. Everything is fresh and real mexican fare. A great sign is that the locals are eating here and the staff are helpful and really went out of their way to help us order. I had the fajitas, my husband ate the tacos and everything was gorgeous. The prices are brilliant and oh my lord, have the margharitas.....

Great food, great service. It's in a converted Denny's so it's hard to get over feeling like it. Despite that we return time and time again

We've eaten here many times. We also eaten at dozens of other Mexican restaurants in the valley, some good, some really good but El Campanario is the best.
It is reassuring that most of the customers are local and Mexican Americans. Families come here.
We are gringos but we know good from bad. They make their own tortillas for each order; the place is owned by two brothers and they take pride in what they serve. Elle is our waitress and she knows what we want; we don't even open the menu.
I always order a medium shrimp cocktail and a fish taco. They are unbelievably good.
I've also ordered the fresh oysters, preparado and still think about how good they are.
"Natcho" seems to be the manager and he makes sure that we love what is served.
Give this place a go...it is very very, good.

This restaurant is in an odd location that is awkward to get to. Tried milanesas which is apparently not cooked regularly; it was just ok. The camarones a la diabla were much better and a reasonable kick to it. Seems like a popular place w/ locals. I'd go back.
