“Nice, but small.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 April 2012

I did enjoy the aquariums, but it is a small place. If you are out in La Jolla and looking for something to do, then this might be a fun stop. But there is a lot to do and see in San Diego.

“Great aquarium”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2012

We visited this aquarium on a day when we had planned to go to the beach at La Jolla, but it was cold and windy that day. This turned out to be a great plan B. The aquarium was nice and they had a lot of different kinds of marine life there to view. My son really enjoyed the sharks and the lion fish. I enjoyed seeing all of the sea horses. They were so cute! There is also a tidal pool area where you can touch sea stars and urchins.

“So much to see!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2012

We hadn't planned on going here during our recent visit to San Diego, but we were driving past it and since it was included in our San Diego Go Card we decided to stop. First of all, loved the fact that you don't have to pay for parking!! That was nice after paying for parking everywhere else.

The aquarium overlooks the ocean and is absolutely stunning. The first thing we did was go to the tide pools outside and that is where we spent the next hour as we couldn't get our 9 year old son to leave. He was having such a great time looking at everything and he really took to one of the volunteers, Sharon, who spent her time showing him the different creatures and teaching him about the habitat. It was great and he loved it!

The aquarium itself is great and is nicely done with lots of fish and creatures we had never heard of or seen. It's a great aquarium - would highly recommend!

“Small but very nice aquarium.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 March 2012

We arrived at the aquarium on a Friday morning and there were fewer than 50 persons at the site. Many young children were there from a pre school. I also noticed a few older youth with a parent and overheard them talking about making a presentation on their visit at school. It appeared there were also several college students who were busy taking notes,.
I would allow about 1 hour. I did see several species that were knew to me. I also was impressed with their interactive sections that focus on preservation and ecology. Just outside the door is a tide pool and a great spot to whale watch.
