Our party of four dined here based on the recommendation of a family friend.

The restaurant is relatively small and cozy. There was live music that was a wonderful addition to the ambiance of the venue. It was very busy, so reservations are very much recommended. There was not an obvious dress code, as some were dressed for fine dining and others were dressed quite casually, in nice shorts and shirts. The price-point was on par for fine dining.

Our appetizer was quite tasty: onion battered fried green beans with a cucumber wasabi dip: light and crispy with a great kick of spice. Our entrees were varied: braised beef, cannelloni, mediterranean chicken pasta and specialty pasta with lamb shank. Dessert was the chef's homemade ice cream and fruit cobbler. All was wonderfully prepared and enjoyed. The food portions are generous: the homemade bread served at the table is wonderful! You will not walk away hungry!

Considering the price-point at this restaurant, one would hope to see a bit better service. The servers were very attentive, but almost too much so. At times, our party felt rushed, as servers would attempt to remove plates before all of our party were done eating.

Over all, this was a wonderful, warm restaurant that served amazing food! It was a wonderful dining experience that was good value.

We've been coming to the Sandbar since the '70s and watched it grow and keep pace with the times. Originally more of a "locals" spot, it now also attracts visitors to the valley. The menu is varied and offers something for everyone...with decent quality. The table to take is one in the bar area where a lively crowd enjoys the piano and locals who take to the microphone. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is friendly.

A group of six of us had dinner here on January 6th. It is very expensive and the food was basically uneatable. The salads that came with the entries had very little lettuce, was covered with mounds of red onions and was drowned with a gray colored tasteless dressing. Four of us did not eat the salad. One in our party ordered the bolognese with handmade pappardelle. It was not warm, had no pappardelle and the bolognese had no flavor. It looked like it was left over from the day before. Another in our party ordered the duck. She did not eat it. I wanted to eat light, so ordered the wedge salad ($9.95) and was told it "did not meet their minimum of $15.00." Even though there were six of us and we ordered 4 plates of their deviled eggs appetizers (the only thing that was decent all night) and there were 5 other entrees to be ordered. Another in our party was not served her order, as the waitress told us that "the cook was not satisfied with the quality of the meal, so she would have to wait until it was made over." We had already waited 45 minutes for our meals. Thankfully someone in our party shared their prime rib with her. I instead ordered the calamari (to meet their minimum) which seemed to be the only decent food that we were served. One person ordered their "hand made" vanilla ice cream for desert. It was frosty and icy like it had been in the freezer for too long. That wasn't eaten either. At no point did the waitress or the manager offer to not charge for the poor quality food. You would think with seeing plates of entrees returning to the kitchen not eaten would give them a clue the food was horrible. They did give the poor woman in our party that never received her entree a free dessert. I do not understand how this restaurant stays in business. I wish I woukd have taken photos of some of the food. It certainly does NOT meet my "minimum requirement!"

A group of 4 of us came in for dinner this week and had the best time! The restaurant is classy yet cozy and they were playing live music which made it really fun. We had requested to be seated in the bar area but it was a little too noisy for our group, 2 in their 80s and the staff quickly accommodated us and moved us to the back room where we could still hear the music but were also able to have a conversation with each other. We were promptly greeted and served cocktails and then ordered our meals. I loved that salad or soup and bread is included with each meal and the salads were fresh and tasty. We all ordered a variety of dishes and everything was delicious! I had the chicken marsala and it was fabulous, especially the mashed potatoes! We were all too full for dessert as portions were very generous, most of us brought leftovers home! Our server was very friendly and attentive. I will put this on my list for my next desert trip and highly recommend it to others for a fun dining experience! Oh and as we were leaving The Lennon Sisters were providing some live entertainment singing at the piano... you never know who you will run into at the Sandbar apparently!

A small restaurant with great food and service. Bill Baker on piano and locals get up to sing with him. Last night there was a trumpet player as well.
I had the Osso bucco, it was wonderful and plentiful. My husband had the pork chop. It was delicious, he took half of it home.
