When I was a kid in Lafayette I could ride by bike right up to The Cake Box and buy a cupcake right there (and often did.) Nowadays, there is no "storefront" -- you can't just go buy a cupcake anymore -- they only wholesale. So if you want some genuine Cake Box baked goods, you will have to go to Lunardi's or Diablo Foods. Is it worth the trip and expense? ABSOLUTELY YES. "A dozen small Parkerhouse Rolls for $8.49? You are kidding me!" you might be saying... but ONLY if you have never had them before. Spring for the big bucks during a holiday or special event where you want a melt-in-you-mouth roll for sandwiches or hamburgers and I promise you that you will never again question whether the expense of The Cake Box baked goods are worth it.
