“Superb Gite In A Real French Setting”

This is a spacious and thoughtfully presented gite with all the modern conveniences (dishwasher, washing machine, modern cooking facilities etc) in rural setting complete with walnut trees, honey stone barns and home made produce. The setting is stunning, nestled within the ancient hamlet and farm at Charnallais. The property is furnished comfortably but retains some delightful quirky, antique features. There is an excellent BBQ and eating area immediately outside. A minute's stroll through a charming veg garden leads you to your private pool area complete with it's own loo (with grape vine around the door) and a pool mini kitchen with fridge freezer, two gas cooking rings, crockery etc. The pool is well maintained and a good size and there is plenty of room for sun bathing and plenty of shade too.

The owners are reassuringly welcoming and helpful but discreet. You are encouraged to save your kitchen scraps and feed them to the chickens. The farm is well known for its excellent produce and sells its own highly regarded fois gras, walnut oils, jams etc.in a shop on site. However, this is a small rural business, and customers number just a few each day.

The very pretty local village of La Bachellerie is about 5minutes drive and has a very good boulangerie / patisserie and a shop selling all necessary provisions. Montignac is the nearest town 10 minutes drive away and situated on the beautiful Valzere river (canoes and kayaks available) and has an excellent range of cafes and restaurants and a large supermarket.

Overall, I can say we had a fantastic 2 weeks holiday, both relaxing in a well appointed, away from it all property, located in a beautiful and interesting rural French setting. Highly recommended.

An absolutelyy gorgeous gite on 3 levels fitted out with original vintage French furniture. The gite was well kitted out - the owners had thought of everything! Situated in the midst of a delightful hamlet centred around the owners farm this was a truly relaxing yet inviting and inspiring place to stay. The owners lived on site but were extremely friendly, helpful and discreet. The pool was gorgeous and all to ourselves (a little extra on the rental when you get there as it is not advertised on Trip Advisor!) We took bikes and the ride into Montignac to the boulangerie took 15 mins - good exercise on quiet roads!Added bonus is the little vintage food store and cafe on site where the family sell their own confit, rilletes, fresh duck, organic cider, asparagus and veg.Good enough to load the car with on our return!Definitely to be visited again!
