This private campground was only a short drive from Calgary (less than an hour) and provided incredible views of the Kananaskis mountains. Since we took a WestJet flight from Ontario, we loved the fact that we could rent a trapper's tent and rent most of the camping essentials- mess kit, towels for showering, firewood, propane lantern, propane cooking stove, cooler, sleeping gear, etc. We also LOVED that we could get a yummy cup of coffee at the 'coffee canteen' located inside the main office/store/trading post. We stayed at campsite 32 so we were close to the flushable toilets, showers, and main office. We loved the location because it was still close to the stream and stunning mountain views.

Since we were a family of 4 (with another one on the way in only 11 weeks), we opted for the trappers tent because of its little covered deck on the front (that nicely fits a picnic table). Since it rained every day (only for a short period) of our four day camping experience, this was a bonus! The kerosene heater inside the tent kept us toasty warm and took the edge off the early summer chill at night. My husband is 6'7" and I am 6'0" and we had lots of head clearance in the tent (phew). The mattresses were quite comfortable (this is coming from a woman in her third-trimester of pregnancy), and I caught myself laughing to myself when I woke up to rain falling onto our tent on our last morning--haha- we didn't have to pack up a rain-drenched tent!

We would suggest bringing numerous plastic bags, as you need to remove all scented items, garbage, recyclables from your campsite EVERY single time you leave your site...yes, that means even if you want to take a 5 minute wander down to the beautiful stream right beside your campsite. Luckily we had just enough to last us throughout our trip. We borrowed roasting sticks from our friends in Calgary, as using sticks from the forest floor is a big 'no-no'. I didn't ask about renting folding chairs for around the campfire, so we borrowed some as well. We brought a small hatchet to use to cut up our purchased firewood (for kindling), but I'm pretty sure you could probably buy one at the campground's store if you needed one. The firewood was nice and dry and created beautiful fires. Overall, I'd like to give a big shout-out (from a mountain top) to the staff at Sundance Lodges- they were very friendly, provided great hiking trail advice, and kept the campground's facilities super clean. Thanks again for a great stay!

Sundance gave us everything we needed. Had 2 trappers tents 31 and 32. Great location to river and very private. Check in was a breeze and the campgrounds are kept very clean. Tents are quite comfy and having the heater keeps you warm at night. Hot showers and regular bathrooms near the trading post were quite convient for us. Beautiful scenery topped it off. I would definetly recommend Sundance and as a family we plan to return.

Great location in Kananaskis Country , close to the Delta Lodge where you can find dining options. Lots of wildlife on main road area . We stayed in the Trappers tent which was spacious and included a small heater to keep you warm at night.. Check in and Check out were easy and staff were very friendly. Clean Restrooms.

This is a great private campground tucked away in the beautiful mountains of Kananaskis Country in Alberta. An hours drive from Calgary and about the same to Banff. Excellent campsites and you can rent Tipis, Trapper's tents, bring your own or haul along your trailer/5th wheel. Great little Trading Post where you can buy most camping food essentials, snacks, firewood, propane, etc. One can even rent dishes, sleeping gear or pretty much anything else related to camping outside...even has flush toilets and showers at the Trading Post!!!

We had the Trappers tent which had a little deck on the front with a picnic table and canvas roof for those rainy days, sleeps 4, comes with a kerosene heater to keep the night chill off and it also includes a Coleman propane lantern.

FANTASTIC little place with great staff and surroundings...!!! We will DEFINITELY go back next year. They are now closed for the winter but will start taking reservations again, next March.

This is a GO for those that have NO camping stuff and don't want to buy it OR have never camped before. Very reasonable rates, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.

I have used some of the Hotel ratings below BUT, it is "NOT" a hotel...just used them to help give a better description of the amenities, views, etc. Kananaskis Golf Courses about an 8 minute drive from the campground.

Room Tip: I would recommend the Trappers tent, good shelter, lots of STAND-UP room inside, clean and comfy!!!

Beautiful wooded area. Great location. Staff was friendly. Outhouses weren't too bad (for outhouses).
We had an older Trappers Tent. It smelled musty and wet and had told inside. Bugs & spiders everywhere inside. Holes in the floor so a chipmunk got in and made a home in our suitcase and jumped out and scared my kids at bedtime. They were too scared to go back inside until we let them sleep with us on the double bed.....Awesome. Maybe request a newer tent.... they looked nicer/cleaner.
I might go back if i had a coupon or my own tent/trailer.
