Attraction details
Owner description: This place is temporarily closed due to a natural disaster. It will reopen in 2018. In the heart of the Canadian Rockies, less than an hour’s drive from either Calgary or Banff, visitors find a golfing paradise. Kananaskis Country Golf Course is one of the premier golf destinations in the Canadian Rockies and second to none as a spectacular location for a golf vacation. Forming an unforgettable landscape, the rugged surrounding mountains tower 10,000 feet (3,000 metres) above sea level, the courses themselves are at almost 5,000 feet (1,500 metres). Situated in the Kananaskis Valley among boreal forest, the Mount Lorette and Mount Kidd Courses are named for the soaring limestone peaks that serve as their breathtaking backdrop. The Courses offer immaculate lush fairways, bent grass greens, over 140 silica sand bunkers, four sets of tee boxes, glacier fed creeks and ponds, the cascading Kananaskis River and a variety of wildlife.

Stopped in here on our road trip for some food since we heard it was well priced. The food was great and the price was right. There were three things which were negative to my time spent here.

1.) The obnoxiously loud bartender was not doing his job and just chatting up the waitresses about having a game of hide and go seek after closing time in the resort. Very unprofessional.

2.) There were flies everywhere! We asked the server to deal with them and they went to search for the fly swatter. She said that they'd lost it and went back to chatting with the bartender about article #1. We asked later if she could do something and she just said "well we spray every night."

3.) The manager was no better than the employees! He saw a dent in a table and got the girls to move it to the other side of the room but ignored the real issue that there were 15 flies buzzing around landing on us!

There isn't much more you can ask for in a Golf experience. I had the pleasure of playing the Mt Lorette course (like the previous reviewer I hear that Mt Kidd is even nicer) on a Friday evening in late June. Teeing off after 5:00 PM we came in with plenty of light after 10:00 and with this scenery I won't dare complain about the almost 5 hour round. The course is one of the best in Canada and when you add in the scenery of Kananaskis you get one of the best golf experiences money can buy. My only regret is that i didn't get to play all 36. Great service all around. Range was included.
You must play this course!

This golf course has aweful prices but once a year it is O.K. The Mount Kidd Course is much nicer as it looks at the river and looks at the beautifal mountain of mount kidd. For 10 strait years my family has camped here with our friends for 6 years we have golfed here. The mount lorrett course is nice but not near as nice as Kidd. The pro shop is not as great as it should be but it's O.K. And if you are camping In K- Country stay at Mount Kidd R.V Park it is the best campground in the world. You also should know that Kananaskis, Banff, and Canmore have the biggest mountains in North America, Kananaskis is with out a doubt the nicest place i've been.
