This was our first visit to a Big Leagues Dream park. They have other facilities in other cities.

I thought it was a very fun idea with the replica Big League Ball Parks. There is also soccer areas. There is both outside and indoor fields, so it is an all year park.

its also fun that one can have snacks, beverages, and even alcoholic beverages when there.

They also have special events.

Thank mini

Big League Dreams is a softball complex with one of six different fields built on the configuration of a major league ballpark. There are even "fans" in the stands above the field. This is the thrill—to imagine that you are hitting and playing in the big leagues.

The maintenance of the park is poor, which is surprising since it charges a fee to play (in addition to your league and/or tournament fee) or even to spectate! Also, no outside food or beverage is allowed (except for water) which gives them a captive audience for their own snack bars (so-so food and slowwww service). They even inspect bags to see that you are not smuggling food or booze in. The rest rooms are clean and well maintained. The fields, sometimes worn and in need of repair.

It is starting to look a bit shabby as the painted "fans" are starting to fade away. I suspect the price for entrance will go up again this year. Hopefully it will be renovated, or at least spruced up, before I play there this next August.

This weekend our girls softball tournament was scheduled at two different fields in the Manteca area. This winter in California is very wet and the dirt fields were rained out completely. Not so with the artificial turf fields at Big League Dreams where we managed to get in most of a game on Saturday afternoon and 4 on Sunday. Even after a very heavy rain storm on Saturday night the fields were ready for play at 8:00 on Sunday morning. For the girls they can play in a light shower and the adults can drop into the indoor area and start the morning with breakfast and a Bloody Mary. BLD has a full bar and food service with a fair selection. The food is average but is very expensive. However, this is one of the nicest places for early spring games when there is a threat of rain.

Not to make our parents seem like a bunch of lushes- but we look forward to playing here all year. The bar opens at 10 am and we all swoop to get our Bloody Mary's. DOn't get me wrong, there are not a bunch of obnoxious, drunk people stumbling around. It's just nice to grab a cocktail with your buddies.
As for the fields- they cannot be matched ! Our kids feel like they are playing in the Big Leagues. It can get hot and there is not a lot of shade (depending on what field, time of day, etc). We were allowed to put up canopies, as long as we didn't block anyones view. The bar is fully air conditioned and you can see the fields from inside (even though you may feel guilty for being cool while the boys are sweating away on the field).
FYI-You cannot bring in your coffee. Depends on who was at the desk- but sometimes they gave a cup to transfer it into ( not Starbucks allowed). Also- very strict with the coolers and they check all your bags-so don't even try...
Hotels around here fill up fast on tourney weekends- so book ahead.
We love this place.
