My fiance and I stayed at this hotel on a Saturday a couple weekends ago and enjoyed our stay. The younger woman at the front desk was very sweet and made the whole experience even better. You can tell that the hotel is definitely older, but it is very well maintained and looks like it has been improved within the past year or so. We also had the best sleep ever on the mattress, so much so that we took note of the brand/model and will ordering it for our home! The wharf was also an easy 10-15 minute walk which was great.

Thank you for your kind review. We have updated all our rooms with new furniture, beds and bedding it's a joy to hear how much of a good sleep people are getting. Isn't that the best part of staying at the hotel? I have been given the info on the mattresses more then a few times so far. I can also recommend our spa rooms, maybe for a next trip to Monterey? We will be happy to welcome you again.

Booked directly on the hotel website as it offered a family (3 bed) room, that wasn't available on 3rd party sites.

Family room is in the basement, & is very spacious. Includes TV, fridge, & tea/coffee machine. (nb- the elevator does not go to basement, so you will need to carry luggage up/down a small flight of stairs).

Complementary continental breakfast is provided- juice, tea/coffee, fruit, yogurt, pastries/muffins etc- sets you up nicely for the morning.

Staff very helpful, providing directions to the main st/Fisherman's Wharf (approx. 10-15 mins walk).

We had booked a whale watching trip for the day we checked out, meaning we'd be back around 1.00pm... hotel were happy for us to leave our car in the parking lot even though we'd checked out.

This is a great little hotel in a very convenient (yet quiet) location; would fully recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Check availability of the family room via the hotel's own website- it may not be shown on 3rd party sites (e.g. booking.com, hotels.com etc)

Hi Nick, thank you so much for your wonderful review. You stayed in our spacious family/friends room. You pretty much have the place downstairs for yourself and lots of families enjoy it for that reason.I'm glad you were here for the whale watching, it sure has been a very good season for doing that.
Thank you for complimenting the staff, we enjoy assisting our guests to make the most of their visit to Monterey. I hope you will be staying with us again on your next trip to this area.

This is a great hotel set in a great location. Excellent value, an ideal base for your trip to Monterey.

Location - Brilliant. On the quiet edge of the (small) city centre, the hotel is a 10 min walk to Fisherman's Wharf and 5 min walk to the main street with the restaurants and shops. Plenty of on site parking with more easily (and safely) available on the street outside.

Rooms - large, cosy, very comfortable and well equipped with coffee making facilities and a fridge.

Breakfast - good quality with cereals, pastries, toast and muffins, fruit and yogurts.

Staff - above all, the staff were very, very helpful. The manager helped with driving / route advice as well as being exceptionally helpful (and patient!) with a problem I had with my Mi-Fi device. It was really reassuring.

A cosy hotel with a very 'home from home' feel. We all loved it, and were a little sad to be leaving it. I strongly recommend this hotel.

The ownership made people feel like they were staying in a friendly bed and breakfast. The property was clean, gardening work was perfect for the cool and comfortable patio breakfast or after a day touring Carmel and Monterey. The room was spacious, food and drink could be refrigerated, it was wonderfully maintained, and the beds were clean and fresh. the bathroom seemed new, spacious, and super clean. The non smoking rule was strictly maintained and the sea breeze made the air seem extra fresh.

Room Tip: Go to upper floors as they have an elevator.

Book direct Stephanie is the best.
Crying I walked to the counter, she totally turned my day around. Greeted with a smile and help from her with check in, whale watching and other info.
