Morro Bay Sandpiper Inn

My husband and I enjoyed a four day get away in Morro Bay and stayed at Morro Bay Sandpiper Inn which worked out great! Our room had a partial view of Morro Rock, quiet, clean, service great, walking distance to Embarcadero Rd of shops, restaurants and sitting on a bench taking in the view. The breakfast is small - blueberry and chocolate muffins, two cereals, juice, milk, coffee, tea and instant cocoa packets. If you want a nice breakfast then eat out at several great restaurants like Coffee Pot, Frankie and Lola's and Carla's. Overall a good value and nice place to stay!

Room was very clean, shower good, beds were comfortable. There was no closet, but a rod for hanging clothing next to sink.
Did not like the very light Continental Breakfast as you had to bring half muffins or cold cereal , juice and coffee back to your room on a tray to eat. There was no place to sit in very small lobby. I do not like sitting on bed while eating.

Lovely place, friendly staff, wifi and flat screen with plenty of channels. Hope to come back sometime. Breakfast was anon event though, probably better off not calling it breakfast and just letting people know there is free coffee available at reception. Would give 5 stars if there was a proper breakfast set up.

We stayed 3 nights in early March, when the rate was around $65/night. We were in Room 3, a ground floor room with King bed and view of Morro Rock. The bed was very comfy, felt newish (still firm), pillows were not new but they had a lot of loft. Our room was renovated in 2016, it looked like they put in new laminate (faux wood) floors, fresh coat of paint throughout including the shelves and pegs above the sink and toilet, and small touches like new caulking around the tub. But the small arm chairs were old with worn fabric. The room had a small but noisy wall heater but it can heat up the whole room sufficiently. You can hear the upstairs neighbors' footfalls easily, but the side neighbors you hear only if the window is open. The man at the front desk was super nice and gracious, providing service with a smile at all times. He was an exemplary motel host. The breakfast is basic but it's free. You get 2 choices of cereal (cheerios and frosty flakes), 2 choices of muffins (looked like from Costco), milk, OJ, and coffee. The coffee was weak but that's the case at every motel. We had brought our own coffee grounds and was hoping to make our own coffee in our room, but the coffee maker in our room was the kind that makes a single cup at a time using a pod (flat packet of coffee grounds wrapped in paper), so there was no way we could make coffee with our own grounds. The toiletries included 2 tubes of conditioning shampoo, face soap, body soap, and makeup remover towelette. The towels are small and thin so you should ask for extra bath towels. The shower pressure was adequate and the shower curtain rod is the curved kind, so the curtain does not blow into you while you shower. The bathroom was very clean, but some of the grout lines are dark or have old stains. This motel is pet friendly with a fee of $25/pet per night.

Room Tip: Rooms 1, 2, 3 (maybe 4) on ground floor, and rooms on upper floor, have views of Morro Rock. Renovat...

A weekend in Morro Bay for under $80 a night is well worth it.You could see the bay and Morro Rock from our room. The water front on Embarcadero With many shops and restaurants is a quick walk.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
Microwave and refrigerator too.
The room was clean. It has some small cosmetic imperfections but overall you will not get a better value.
The continental breakfast was juice, coffee, cereal and fresh, tasty muffins.
We will return!!!
