Oakdale California is a place to avoid needing a room in Sept. or Oct of 2017. The Motel 6 wanted $169 for a smoking room mid week. We were planning to go back toward Modesto for a room when we spotted the Holiday Motel. It is older & looked to have many rooms available, which always makes you nervous in a town with 2 very expensive options available. Apparently there is construction in the area & the rooms all over town have been booked for the construction crews. The Holiday cost $89 that night, had decent internet a large room with fridge, micro wave, coffee & maker & an old but decent bath. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was pretty much nothing but coffee & a packaged sweet roll. But the Motel 6 was going to be nothing. I would actually probably choose this one over a Motel 6 anyway as the rooms were so big. Anyway it saved us some miles & hunting & was a good value at the time.

Room Tip: We had neighbors but did not hear them at all, good sound proofing

Oakdale was booked up with workers. We had two cats and a baby traveling from a long distance with a U-haul and horse trailer.Trailer and horses and dogs were boarded and not a room anywhere. Just needed a bed to sleep. They charged $260.00 for two rooms. These two rooms appeared clean but this was superficial. I hope they enjoyed this ridiculous rate as we will NEVER support a business that clearly took total advantage of our situation. Oakdale is a nice town with very nice hotels at reasonable rates. This was clearly an opportunity to capitalize on folks they thought were just passing through. They were wrong, we relocated to the area and will not recommend them to anyone.

Room Tip: Avoid and support the the other hotels in the area.

It was OK, Fridge and microwave was nice to have in room. Bedding was older and not is great shape. Furniture was older and beat up a bit. Larger bath room, little sink/vanity, large stand up shower (no tub). Bathroom was clean. Not the most quiet room. Old wooden door. Good sized gaps around door (lots of light and air coming thru), and door didn't seem to shut all that tight.

I'm sure we could have paid a bit more and gotten a newer hotel but this one is now under new management and is making a big effort to be an acceptable place to stay for thrifty travelers. Our room was clean, the hotel was quiet, and we enjoyed our stay. The motel is within walking distance of a couple of nice restaurants, the owners gave us a list and told us where the locals go, and the pool was well maintained. It wasn't heated but when it was 95 outside, it felt great. Our family used this as a base for a Yosemite adventure and were happy they were able to accommodate us on such short notice because of the fires closing so many towns and other accommodations.

The room had old carpet and broken curtains and the TV didnt work. The manager explained that the owner was the problem and was sorry for the inconvenience but offered no refund. There are better choices close by.
