Staff not knowledgable and no follow through. Understaffed for a night when they were sold out due to a large off-site event. Room was not really clean, silly string was on the doors. Safe did not work and no one knew how to fix it. When the maintenance man arrived he would not even come inside our room. He just stood there looking into the room, mumbled something unintelligible about “no safe”, turned around and left! Unbelievable! I called down to tell them and they never sent anyone else to look at the safe.

I requested the pull out beds to be readied for my two boys as we left for the concert. When we returned at 11:30 pm the had not been made up (no blankets, sheets or pillows) One of the mattresses was still half covered in plastic. When I called to ask for someone to come and make up the beds I was told that housekeeping was gone for the night. How is that appropriate for a hotel this size on a sold out night? I asked her if my children should sleep without blankets on the bare mattresses and she said she would send her driver. After waiting for 15 more minutes I called again. She was still waiting for her driver. When he finally arrived he had only one set of linens for two beds! He had to make 3 trips and then I had to make up the beds myself, at midnight! And the person who delivered us the linens appeared very high!!!

And as for the shuttle service to and from the concert venue, there were two vans for all of the guests for going to the concert, but only one van/driver to pick us all up for the return! At 11:00 at night in a bad part of Oakland!!! There were over 30 of us waiting for over 30 minutes for the first shuttle. We saw the neighboring hotels’ shuttles coming and going several times during our wait. This was unacceptable and put us in danger being left there waiting in a high crime area!

The elevator in the tower made loud noises and lurched. Other guests also mentioned to us that they were concerned about it’s safety. If the same “maintenance person” who came to fix my safe was in charge of elevator maintenance, heaven help their guests and anyone else using that elevator.

Thank God we were only staying the one night. Never again!

Stay away from this unsafe, understaffed, unprofessional hotel, even for one night!

This hotel is a throwback to the 1950s style motel. Although renovations have taken place still a lot to be done. Guests at check in were denied a room. They had given their room away. One room I stayed in had massive damage to the door and the key didn't work. The elevator in the tower is on it's last legs. The food in the restaurant was great the service was not. Staff needs to learn to smile. English would be helpful.
