If you love ice cream you have to go here. I love trying their unique flavors. When I went I tried geranium, Chipotle, sage and Chinese five-spice.
You'll savor every bite.

The venue is so nondescript that you might almost pass it by. What drew us to it is the sustainable, organic and alternative descriptors.
It is casual and friendly and the Pandan and Apple Pie flavors were exquisite. Their flavors are truly innovative -- drawing on a lot of Asian traditions aside from more mainstream dessert influences.
The cones are organic too and made by them if I am not mistaken. Really appreciate the sustainability focus in their business.

What a surprise to find this tiny ice cream parlor on Telegraph Avenue, after a satisfying and spicy Mexican meal. I chose the lavender flavor and my husband went with the classic vanilla. The lavender was extraordinary, very light and subtle in flavor, not too sweet. Similarly, the vanilla was flavorful, but not over-powering or overly sweet.
Our server was very pleasant and generous with information (and samples) which added to the smiles brought by the ice cream.
How nice to find an establishment making ice cream with genuine creativity.
Telegraph Ave. is well served by buses from the Mac Arthur BART station, or you can walk to Tara's from BART in about 15 minutes.
Parking is not too difficult in this area, especially after 6 pm.

Why wait in a queue along College Ave in Elmwood to be greeted by mostly "Icy" staff? Doesn't add to the real flavor like the love and innovation that Tara imbues in her artisan ice cream.

This is far better artisanal ice cream than some other places on College Avenue. Really original ice cream flavors that are a delicious surprise. Nice staff lets you sample them.
