This was a perfectly comfortable place to stay for the price. Given the exorbitant prices at some of the other hotels/motels in the Oakland area, I was a little bit fearful in making this reservation. I was unsure of the safety of the location, and the quality of the accommodations (especially given some of the reviews on here). I was pleasantly surprised to find that the parking and outdoor areas were well-lit (I arrived at night), the room was clean, and the bed -- especially the pillows --were very comfortable.
The furnishings and the amenities are a bit outdated, but you should probably manage your expectations when you are paying quite a bit less than 3-star hotels. They were all functional, and well-maintained in the room where I was staying.
The staff I interacted with were friendly.
My only complaints: 1) there was a strong smell of deodorizer in my room -- as if someone had smoked in here and they were covering it up (which I would prefer to the smell of old cigarette smoke, anyway), and 2) the free WiFi wasn't working well while I was here. Not sure if that is a normal occurrence or not but I was not able to use it during my two-night stay (I'm using my personal mobile hotspot, right now).
Overall, I would stay here again given the pricing compared to other options.More
