My wife and I make an annual trip to the Sacramento Valley area every year. This year we decided to try a B&B in the area. How fortunate we chose the Riverside B&B. What a great place. Located on the banks of the Feather River, it is in a quiet park like setting. The owners Larry and Merilee are the best, some of the greatest people you would ever want to stay with or meet. The breakfast was incredible, a wonderful array of fresh fruits from the area as well as a souffle' that was to die for. The room was very comfortable, king bed, jacuzzi tub, shower, mini fridge, etc. We will definitely be making arrangements for another stay next year.

Riverside B& B is a relaxing retreat - a great way to rejuvinate your body and spirit. We stayed for three nights in the premire second floor room and were treated to a fabulous view of the Feather
River not only from our large balcony, but from our bed and jacuzzi tub as well. In the mornings we had coffee out on the large common deck overlooking the river and then were treated to a full, sit down breakfast with the hosts, Larry and Merrily and the other guests. In
the evenings we would sit on the dock and watch the otters and beavers play in the river. We were in the Oroville area to do some outdoor activities - wildlife watching, hiking, fishing and kayaking.
This is a great base for all these outdoor activities and many more. We brought and launched our Kayak onto the river right from the property! We liked being on the property so much that we often brought our dinner home to eat it up on balcony as the sun went down.
The B & B only has 9 rooms, but all have access to the common deck and most have a fabulous river view. The property is clean and well-loved by the owners. Well worth the price!

I discovered the Riverside B and B when planning a business trip to a nearby college. The shosts, Merrily and Bill, answered my questions and told about the inn. I stayed for only one night, but it was such a wonderful break from the hustle of the road. The inn is located in rural Oroville (an old gold rush town near Chico), right on the banks of the Feather River. It's a charming wood paneled (inside and out) lodge-type home. Most all the rooms have a river view (mine had a brass bed and a private bath with shower AND clawfoot tub) and are lovingly decorated. Overall, it is like staying in someone's cozy old-fashioned family cabin, but it's much more than just a cabin. The river is right in the backyard and the views are wonderful. Lots of wildlife around too, especially birds. Bill's signature "Goldminer Breakfast" includes sourdough flapjacks with local preserves, bacon and fresh fruit, and the hosts eat with you en famille in the dining room. Lots of good conversation. Bill is an avid fly fisher and can point fishing fiends in the right direction---salmon, steelhead trout, and possibly an elusive sturgeon are all in the river, and Lake Oroville is nearby as well.

Two caveats. The highway is nearby, but not overly so, so you might hear a whisper of traffic (but nothing horrible) now and then (it did not bother me in the least, but be aware if you need to know that kind of thing). Also, this is Bill and Merrily's home---they love the area, and have chosen to share it with guests, and the atmosphere is wonderful and down to earth---a true reflection of the area. If, however, you are expecting a 5 star Napa Valley B and B at $350+ a night, then you need to stay at such an establishment. Personally, I loved the Riverside and hope to get back again soon (on vacation this time!).
