“Come See the Dolphins”

Pacific Grove Oceanview Boulevard
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 30 October 2017

We walked along this beach early in the morning and saw a bunch of dolphins playing in the waves. We even got to see one jump completely out of the water. Off in the distance was a whale blowing water sky high. What a beautiful location to watch God's creation.

Oceanview Blvd. is very enjoyable by itself or in combination with the 17 Mile Drive and other scenic oceanfront roads. The drive includes samples of Pacific Grove's eclectic architecture, surf crashing on the rocks, the lighthouse, and the Irish-links like PG golf course. Extend (or start) the drive by including the Asilomar beach. As a Monterey Peninsula resident, I do the drive at least once a month and it's always on the grand tour route for visitors.

Wonderful walking/biking path parallel to the water. Saw seals, yachts, and magnificent beauty. You can walk right to cannery row for coffee and breakfast. Lovely!

I don't think of Oceanview Blvd. as a drive to take but as a way to get from one amazing vista to the next. Pullouts are plentiful, letting you stop almost anywhere to look for sea otters or just enjoy the beautiful scenery. Many pullouts have benches so us old folks can sit comfortably and watch the waves. This is a don't miss if you are in Monterey or Pacific Grove.

Don't go to Pacific Grove without walking along the rec trail on Oceanview. It is a beautiful walk! Crashing waves, seals, dolphins.... Be sure to continue walking towards Pebble Beach past the golf course. It is not nearly as crowded as the section down by Lovers Point. Enjoy the sea breeze and solitude!
