This is a small, simple Mexican restaurant hidden away behind a Mail Bag in a small mall. It may be unpretentious but the food isn't, and the house margarita is a steal at $5. The menu is good, and the portions large and far better tasting than the chain restaurants.
The big surprise is in the dessert menu. The creme brulee is the stand-out. The rich custard base is light and creamy and the caramel top is just right, crisp but not too thick. I have had the same dessert in many top class restaurants but none have achieved the same perfection. And it wasn't a once off, as I had eaten there 18 months ago and the quality was the same.
Well done to a small family-run cafe, which gets its name from the home town in Mexico which the owner left many years ago for Palm Springs.
