If you're stuck in Palm Springs looking for something to do, try this. The ride takes about 10 minutes, is 2.5 miles long, and goes up about 6,000 vertical feet. The top of the tram is at 8500 feet. As you go up, the interior of the tram rotates, so by standing in one spot you rotate completely around two or three times and get views up, down and to the sides of the canyon. The whole thing is quite an engineering feat and pretty impressive, although people with acrophobia may not be so happy. There are hiking trails at the top, but be warned...even in summer it can be windy and cold at the top. Not surprisingly, ticket prices are high...$26 per adult.

This ride is worth the wait, and once you start your journey up the mountain, you will be treated to an excellent view of the area. I visited Palm Springs area for 2 weeks and this was one of the excursions I enjoyed the most. This is a "must do" in the Palm Springs area. Highly Recommended.Pack some warm clothes for your journey to the top as the temperature is much cooler there once you arrive. If you are afraid of heights this trip may not be for you..

It really has something for everyone. The views alone are worth the trip, but there is so much more to the tram experience. If you are not a hiker, you can go to the top, spend time watching some of the documentaries, take in the amazing view, eat a great meal, and go back down. If you like to hike, you can spend any amount of time here you want from 30 minutes to the whole day exploring the trails here. We spent the day hiking the trails and taking in all 5 of the views along one of the trails. A caution, though: to get to the trails you have to go down pretty steep paved switchbacks (and eventually get back up that same way), so for that reason I would say that it is a moderate hike-definitely not easy for those not in the greatest shape. If you are up for a challenge, it is so worth it! Take the time to buy your tickets ahead of time if you can to better plan your day. If you are able, eat at the sit down restaurant with breathtaking views. The food was really good, too! Definitely enjoyed by all!

Great views! Cool tram with amazing engineering and construction.
Now the negative. Overpriced but I guess that is standard for any tourist attraction. Staff all looked pissed off and no signs for the hiking trails . The one or two I saw looked liked they were made by a grade 3 student. Almost every person we passed hiking was confused as to where the trail was and lookouts were. Too bad as it ruined the whole experience up there!

We spent a day in the park. The tram is fun and the view is spectacular, however, the ride up and down is short and the wait is very, very long. We were told there was a one hour wait and once we purchased our ticket, we had well over two hours of wait time. This venue is not well-equipped for large crowds of people with long waits. There is very little to do - a small gift shop and a very limited snack bar with only one girl serving a limited assortment of pre-packaged food. Plan to spend some time at the top - there are wonderful hiking trails with excellent views. Well-worth heading to the top early in the day so you can enjoy the scenery. However, do not plan to eat at the top. The restaurant food is limited and the service is too! The building is well past its prime and is in much need of a major facelift (torn chairs, worn doors and tables). I would advise that you take a picnic lunch an plan to enjoy the trails.
