Had a drink in this bar. Friendly staff. Quiet time of day. Great Margarita. Neighborhood bar. Locals seem to be the clientele.

Seems to be a local favorite, so a newcomer may at first feel like an outsider. But if you take the initiative to strike up a conversation, you will quickly feel like you belong. Though clearly aimed at the Levi's/leather crowd, there is low attitude and a strict dress code is not enforced, so come as you are. Age range mostly reflects Palm Springs' retirement demographic, but there are a few young-uns in the mix, and the energy is upbeat. Drinks are substantial and fairly priced. There is a billiards table and a patio for smokers. Parking is free and plentiful in the adjacent lot and on street. No food, but there is a cafe in the same building complex.

Our friend used to be a bartender here so we popped in many evenings and it is not a place I would recommend for women; however, we still pop in and a couple of our other friends go there more frequently and it's there fave bar in town.

The entrance is in the rear of the building and you pass the bathroom on the way in on the left. If you are a woman, there's only one bathroom and it's used by all and it is not pleasant.

Parking is no problem. On those evenings when the bar is crowded, you may have to wait awhile to get your drink because there is usually only one bartender and on the weekends or during Gay Pride, there may be two! Prices are reasonable and pours are good. Selection of beer is not overwhelming and they keep it simple. Bud is probably the No. 1 seller.

There's an outdoor area for those to like to smoke and it is totally enclosed. There is also a pool table and you can play by putting your $ on the table and challenger the winner if there's a game underway.

If you're offended by seeing naked pictures of men, you should not look at the pictures on the wall because they are explicit. A lot of connections are made among the patrons late in the evening.

On weekends they have a DJ spinning records and it's loud music and very trendy. It's hard to have a conversation or hear yourself think.

It's in an area of Palm Springs that is developing into an antique/art area and it's not well sign posted so you should take the address with you because it's hard to find if you've never been there before.

I've had some very fun times here even being a woman but you should be open minded, gay friendly and not be judgmental. We still pop in now and then and if you're gay, you should check it out.

I've been to the Tool Shed on several occasions and always have a great time! The staff are very friendly, the drinks are well made and the DJ keeps the atmosphere upbeat and sexy.

It's smaller inside that's no deterrent.
