“Funky but great”

Think rusted jeep motif along with collapsing barns, old orchards, and plenty of woods, a pond, and views out over the distant vineyards. And quail. This big, funky, and very comfortable and private one-story house is super convenient to the best wineries on Rte 128 in Anderson Valley. The owner is very helpful and friendly via phone and email. There is a caretaker in the next 'house', a stone's throw away, past the barn (this one not collapsing), who was helpful when the Internet connection was down for awhile. There is no coverage for AT&T cell service, but there is a landline phone at the house. Once the Internet was up, it worked fine.

Inside if you ignore the cobwebs in the corners and the occasional peeling paneling, you will find the kitchen large and well equipped, the master bedroom and bed very comfortable, and the various artifacts scattered about (such as old egg scales) quite interesting. The living room is gigantic and has a large table for dining. There are 2 outside areas for eating. There is both a bbq grill and a fireplace outside. We had a great time.

Our only problem was completing the actual booking, but this was an issue with TA not the owner, and I will take that up with them. As long as the page you're looking at has a "BOOK NOW" button, you should be fine. Ours didn't, so we had to go through multiple phone calls with the owner to straighten it out. Once settled, the payment process went smoothly.

“Cozy rustic farmhouse in perfect location”
Reviewed 23 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We spent a night at the farmhouse for a bachelorette weekend, and it was a great spot! The house is simple and rustic as advertised, but well supplied and in a beautiful area. It is as advertised, not a spa but rather a homey retreat. The caretaker and his son are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The owner was flexible and acommmodating and easy to contact.
The house is walking distance from several wineries, including Roederer, which is a gorgeous property with a nice cellar tour, and a short drive into the little town of Philo where you can get any supplies you might need. We were glad to arrive after a day of wine tasting and were able to relax all together in the large family room. It would be a great home base from which to explore this lesser known and therefore more relaxed wine country. It was the perfect spot for a friends' getaway.
Note: Wifi access was quite limited, which was mostly a blessing, but when I mentioned this to the owner he said he'd address it right away.
