Our dinner here was excellent. Restaurant was a little on the expensive side, but the food was very good. Great place to celebrate a special occasion. Our waiter was excellent. The lobster was the best I have had in a long time.

We've been to Henry's a few times in the past, recently it was closed for a remodel of the bar area to open only the bar up to the casino floor by removing a couple of outside walls, but it didn't affect the outstanding restaurant operation behind the double glass doors to the left next to the wine cellar. It's still one of the best steak house restaurants in the Sacramento Valley, in a rarified class with Ruth's Chris and Morton's. We prefer Henry's to either of those fine eating establishments for many reasons.

Service by John was outstanding throughout, kind and attentive, paying attention to every detail of my birthday celebration and sharing his considerable knowledge of both food and wine. He started by opening and decanting our bottle of 2004 Pontet-Canet Bordeaux blend, from Pauillac. Yum!

Then we got to the serious stuff, and ordered both the Lobster Bisque and the Clam Chowder ($10 each). The Bisque is extremely rich with cream, and slightly thick. It is very filling so don't order the bowl unless you're seriously hungry or it will severely limit your dinner appetite, especially if you eat a lot of the delicious white bread roll & soft butter with it. The Clam Chowder is also excellent, full of chunky potatoes and clams, but without much liquid so it's also filling. For entrees She Who Must Be Obeyed tried the Filet Mignon 8 oz. size ($39) while I tried the Butcher's Steak and Potatoes ($38).

Both the steaks came out perfectly cooked to order, her side of grilled wood fired asparagus ($5) consisted of very thin asparagus shoots with a nice butter sauce on them, easily enough for two to eat. Mine came in the form of a Hanger Steak with Lyonnaise Potatoes, and some grilled Spinach that I thought was way too oily. The potatoes were grilled and well flavored, if a tad overcooked, but were all eaten.

The end of the meal was an Espresso ($2.75) and a French Press Coffee ($4.50) that were both good. We didn't have room for any dessert, and took some of the steak home for another meal. Over all, Henry's has excellent ambiance, service, and food, and is certainly worth the price of admission for any occasion where you want a really fine meal. Highly recommended!

My brothers and a friend dined there about two weeks ago. I can't say enough good things about Henry's. While it is a bit expensive, it is worth it.
